New Moon in Aries ~Carpe Diem~ 3rd April 2011

This new moon in Aries is all about the self. How are you expressing who you are? Are you being true to your beliefs? Are you compromising your spirit too much? Are you being influenced too much by your peers? Do you feel respected?

Aries of course is about initiative, pioneering, beginning, assertion, passion and expression. Fused to this new moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) we also have lively ebullient Jupiter demanding; enthusiasm, faith and hope are qualities we don’t neglect. So this new moon generates more momentum and drive than the average new moon. There is a feel good factor associated with the unfolding of April, despite the opposition to Saturn adding a sense of responsibility and sombre tones to the mix.

Before I give the impression that all is going to be easiy this month however, I need to mention that Mercury turned retrograde (at 24° Aries) on 30th May (and will remain so until 23rd April) so there will be hiccups with technology, transport, telecommunications and cluttered thoughts. Whilst all new moons signify new beginnings; whilst Mercury is retrograde it is not advised to make any long-term decisions or major changes.

During a Mercury retrograde period we are asked to be more resourceful and view things from new perspectives. Whilst the trademark set-backs encountered may seem inconvenient and irritating at the time; they occur to encourage us to use different approaches and learn to be more flexible and resourceful. Mercury is the machiavellian messenger calling upon us to embrace our ability to adapt.

Along with the new moon in Aries; Mars the ruler of Aries, returns to his own sign on 2nd April (to stay until 12th May). This will provide most with a boost in energy ~those with Sun in Aries will feel more vibrant and energetic. People will be ~in general~ more outspoken, open, industrious, argumentative, courageous and active.

Further big news this week is the ingress of Neptune into Pisces. Neptune was last in Pisces between 1847 and 1861, so it’s been 150 years since our most dreamy, creative, visionary, inspiring ruler of ~film, music, nature and the sea has been comfortably sitting in his own sign.

{for those who would like to view an excellent in-depth article about Neptune please refer to Adrian Ross Duncan’s article here: http://www.world-of-wisdom.com/blog/neptune-in-pisces/33/#more-33 }

Now back to the New Moon. The chart ~as posted~ features an 8th House emphasis which deepens the focus upon the self and encourages us to consider our motivations in life in a much more profound sense. The 8th House is intrinsically about ~letting go~ and surrendering our desires to control our lives by looking within to the core personal needs and blueprints of our souls. When considering the 8th House think of the symbolism of Pluto (and Scorpio) the God of the Underworld ~ruler of sex, death, profound change, spiritual healing and on a psychological level ~the shadow side of the personality.

Mars and Uranus fuse closely together at the beginning of Aries in this chart; bringing a random, seemingly chaotic flavour to this chart. Expect the unexpected, be your unbridled self and just for the day ~break the rules.

The 8th House can be difficult for humans; as we have an innate fear of our mortality, of change, of the unexpected. We place great emphasis upon the concept of time and allow fears of the future and worries from the past cloud our experiences in the moment. We can however, only exist in the ~now~ true feelings can only be expressed in the moment and true ~reality~ being a personal concept may only be conceived of in the current sense.

Letting go is about not allowing the shackles of the past or the fears of the future take away anything from the cognizance and perception we current have. Whilst I believe that there is a certain amount of ~fate~ involved in our earth journeys, the way we interpret the sequence of events, and respond to the struggles and joys of day-to-day living does create who we are.

And who we choose to be ~~who do you choose to be today?

Carpe diem.
