Jupiter in Sagittarius - 8th Nov 2018 to 2nd December 2019

At 12:39pm (UK time) on Thursday 8th November Jupiter will move into Sagittarius. The last time Jupiter was in it's home, was 2007, where it was resident for the entire year up to the end of December 2007. Do you remember 2007? There may be similar themes coming up over the next 12 months.

As Jupiter rules Sagittarius it will be felt more powerfully, which can only be a good thing, as it it engenders optimism, good will and positivity, areas which have seemed to be lacking in many of our lives during 2018 so far. Saturn's residency in Capricorn has brought quite a deal of heaviness, even to those to whose personal planets are not directly affected.

This isn't going to change anytime soon unfortunately, as Saturn will remain in situ for a little while yet however despite the fact that it is bringing a sombre tone to proceedings, it is highlighting areas which are outdated and cannot continue to operate as they have in the past. By the time Saturn moves into Aquarius in March 2020 it is fair to say some important political changes will have occurred.

As Sagittarius is a sign which deals with language, travel and culture, there will be some rather interesting emphasis upon these areas in the coming months. Global issues will be in the spotlight and things will, as usual, likely get worse before they get better. Divisions may be more notable and religious contention will be brought into the spotlight once more.

The time that Saturn spend in Sagittarius in recent years, and the issues that came up as a result, will be reconsidered. However, things tend to end on a good note with Jupiter, though known to create excess and expansion wherever it falls, it is a planet which wants to propagate equality and fairness. Although there is an argumentative side to Jupiter, overall judgement is not favoured and the fights created are for peace and the good of humanity.

There will be an upturn in conscientiousness during the next 12 months, the side that is for goodness and equality will start to be backed more avidly. We may even see a better version of politics on our home shores at long last. A great deal of work is needed right now to rectify the damage which has been created in society in the UK (and quite probably many other parts of the world). I have the optimism to believe that Jupiter in Sagittarius will begin those reparations.

To provide a more horoscope style synopsis I have written a little about what to expect for each of the Sun signs during this period running from Thursday 8th November 2018 to Monday 2nd December 2018. Do please note that the write up for your Sun (or star) sign is general, for a reading to find out more about Jupiter in your chart now and when you were born then contact me at: waxlobster@hotmail.com

Sun in Aries,
Jupiter is a compatible planet for you, ruler of fellow fire sign, Sagittarius it embodies all of the traits you would naturally associate with Sagittarius in the chart. Falling in the natural 9th House in your solar chart, Jupiter here is all about travel, exploration, philosophy and beliefs. As an Aries, you not only have the strongest and most vibrant position for the Sun, you also have a natural relationship with all of the planets, so that when they are in their own signs you feel them more strongly than most.

This gives you increased power and this year you will be able to use all of the energy, optimism and 'luck' associated with Jupiter to work in your favour.

Of course 'luck' is what we attract when we are resonating with ourselves and our environment as authentically and as optimistically as possible. This will be a more natural state for you this year Aries. You've had enough of the Scorpio/8th House soul searching and now will have the chance to shine and get out and about more, just as your natural soul energy calls you to.

Sun in Taurus,

If you are a strongly Taurean type you probably won't resonate very easily with Sagittarius as a sign. They can be argumentative, unpredictable and rather flippant for your taste. This will may be an unnerving year for you as a result Taurus, you do like to know where you stand and what to expect and none of this will be quite so clear as you would wish.

With Sagittarius falling as your natural 8th House, you will be digging deeper into your psyche at this time and learning more about your true beliefs and motivations. You may be the kind of Taurus who believes you are a free spirit, and after this year but after this year you will have a far better and richer understanding of what freedom truly is. Sometimes you have to let go of everything to find who you really are, and that can be quite a scary thing to do. Jupiter is upbeat in its manner though and whatever it touches it will expand and uplift, so the learning curve will be easy to yield to, once you've taken the leap of faith required to enjoy this period fully.

Sun in Gemini,

with Jupiter in Sagittarius in your opposite sign, your focus for the next year will be on personal relationship. Fortunately Jupiter brings an uplifting and joyful energy, as well as being a little over zealous and argumentative at times, so the overall experience will be to explore and learn more about yourself as your relate closely with another.

You will attract a positivity in this area of your life, so Geminis not currently involved are likely to meet somebody during this time.

Relationships for this year will help you understand more about what you really believe and assist in you developing a deeper sense of faith and purpose in your life. There will also be a focus on making more time for fun and laughter too though, Jupiter is also the joker and the trickster planet and you share much in common with this more mischievous vibration of this expansive planet.

You may find that you have more time to travel with a partner too, as Jupiter is not only about exploring your inner world, but also rules the desire to witness other ways of life and culture.

Sun in Cancer,

Interestingly Jupiter is exalted (meaning it operates at its best) in Cancer, and so, whilst there may seem to be a little difference between your focus on home and family and the explorative nature of Jupiter, you actually resonate easily with this planet.

During this period Jupiter will be moving through your solar 6th House, casting a focus up on the day to day elements of life. Now, this isn't the most fun or entertaining area of anybody's chart, but on the other hand Jupiter will make it so and, much can be achieved during this time.

The boring bits of life; the housework, the administrative side of things, what you eat and the kind of foods you buy, all of these things come into focus. This is a great year to begin a new, healthier lifestyle; to give up any foods which you know don't suit you, to take up a yoga class to improve your posture and regulate your sleep patterns.

These areas of life can be very enjoyable when approached with zest and enthusiasm and the overall happiness which will be achieved in the long-term will always be retrospectively worthwhile.
Sun in Leo,

As a fellow fire sign you enjoy Jupiter being in it's own sign and this area of your chart is particularly compatible, as Sagittarius is your solar 5th House, the house that is naturally ruled by Leo. This is a time when you can really come out of your shell and shine.

The last 12 months have been a little dull in their focus and your spirits have been lower than usual, this will begin to improve now, as the fun more upbeat side of your nature will start to take centre stage again. There is also a correlation with children when there is an emphasis on this house, so you may find your job, home or family has more of a focus on children at this time.

For Leos who desperately need a 'pick me up' to shake off recent stresses, joining a theatre group, an art or a dance class at this time will have a wonderful overall effect on your spirit. You will also be more attractive to those around you. Enjoy, you were born to shine and now is your chance to really feel like yourself again. Even shy Leos will feel more confident and comfortable in the limelight during the year ahead.

Sun in Virgo,

This year is all about the home for you Virgo, Jupiter will be shining into the area of your chart which deals with your domestic situation and your family. You could well decide to move where you live this year, but it will be your own choice to do so.

You may find that you are more interesting in learning about the history of your family, and spending time with people you have neglected a little in previous years. Home decorating is also possible and some Virgos may even more abroad, with Jupiter being associated with travel and cultural exploration.

For some it may be more about learning and filling in the gaps in your education, there may be areas of study that you have considered for years and not quite had the time or inclination to do so. This is a great time to do some home study, or develop some personal health regimes that you can develop as a routine from home. We all need to work on ourselves and Virgos tend to understand the importance of this more than most, this is a good time to make your home your castle, Virgo.

Sun in Libra,

This will be sociable year for you Libra, as Jupiter in your solar 3rd House gives you the inclination to get out there and talk to the people in your locality. The 3rd House of the chart is about your neighbourhood, environment and how you interact and communicate with it. You may find that you have more interest in getting involved in what's going on around and near you at this time, and will want to have more of a voice.

If you've ever had a desire to become better at public speaking, or singing, this is a great time to develop these attributes, perhaps you've always wanted to learn a language? There is not better time for this than when Jupiter is in the sign of culture, travel and higher learning.

Travelling will be more enjoyable at this time, but the shorter trips are highlighted when the 3rd House is lit up. Perhaps you'll think about moving to a different neighbourhood, or simply develop a more vibrant social scene a little further afield from where you reside.

This is a great time to develop your thoughts and opinions recreationally Libra, Jupiter moving into Sagittarius will be very liberating and uplifting for you.

Sun in Scorpio,

Well, I'm sorry to say that after a year of uplifting Jupiter in your sign you are going to have to get used to life without it again.

That's the bad news, the good news is that this year could prove very helpful financially. Jupiter in your solar 2nd House, does imply more comfortable finances and the ability to make more money in the next 12 or so months.

The 2nd House is also about the physical touch and food, so the inclination to over-indulge could be present at this time too. It's good to look into the kinds of foods which suit your constitution, as getting in touch with what suits your body is what allows you to be more free and easy with your eating habits.

Jupiter will help you understand your physical body better and this is a great time to not only try out different types of food stuffs, but also to take up something more culturally diverse such as yoga, martial arts, reiki etc. Connecting a more diverse cultural practise to your physical routine will really help you thrive this year Scorpio and it will also take you out of your head and help you to think less and live more in the moment.

Sun in Sagittarius,

Finally, your ruling planet is back! It's been 11 or so years since Jupiter was in Sagittarius and it's a wonderful feeling for Sagittarians when your solar 1st House is finally graced by the presence of joyful Jupiter!

This is going to be a great year for you Sagittarius, the world is your oyster once more and you know exactly how to appreciate the help and uplift that Jupiter will be bringing to your life.

Many of you will take a little more time to travel, your energy levels will be great improved at this time. You've not really felt at your best for the last year, so there is a lot that you feel that you have been missing out on that you will now, miraculously have more time and energy to focus upon.

As you are often more of the teacher than the student you are likely to come educational ideas at this time. There will be some of you who are inclined more to study, but the more experienced of you realise how much you have to share and give back to others and this year brings a great opportunity for you to come up with new endeavours in this area.

Enjoy Sagittarius, you've had a rough few years, you deserve this!

Sun in Capricorn,

On the plus side you will feel energised by Jupiter in Sagittarius, it generates more natural energy in its own sign, but this will be strangely introspective year for Capricorns. Jupiter will be in your solar 12th House, and so a lot of what happens may feel like it's very random and unpredictable to you, even when it's very positive.

The 12th House is quite intangible and difficult to 'feel' the best way to get a handle on it, is by developing a regular meditative practise and keeping a dream diary. The subconscious rules the show in this realm and whilst it is just as (usually far more) instrumental in the manifestation process, it is a little more difficult to control and understand.

With Saturn in your sign for another year or so, you have enough in your life to control, or feel that you should be keeping an eye on however, so you could look at this Jupiter transit as a great form of escape from day to day life.

If indeed you do take the time this year to meditate and go within more, you will develop a much closer relationship with yourself, your surroundings and consequently, those who really matter the most to you in your life too.

Sun in Aquarius,

Jupiter will fall in your solar 11th House, which is actually the same house which is naturally ruled by Aquarius in the chart. Consequently, a lot of your focus this year will be on the more Aquarian, innovative and creative side of your nature.

Your natural altruism and desire for equality and fairness in life will be highlighted, and you will most likely become far more involved in supporting the community and local charities. The current trend for environmental concerns and more kindness towards animals will continue to grow in popularity and many Aquarius will be instrumental in developing these concerns further in the public eye.

You may be more inclined to look at causes overseas, than at home, any can factor in at this time and your sway, wherever you focus your attention, will be at its most prolific.

Humour will also become more important, as it breaks down barriers and joins people together. This should be a fun year for you Aquarius, but it will also be industrious and one where you branch out and focus on what matters to you, more than you have for a long time.

Sun in Pisces,

There is a good relationship between Pisces and Jupiter, back in the days before your ruling planet; Neptune was discovered, it was said that you were ruled by Jupiter. Indeed, there is a commonality between your connection with the spiritual truths and Jupiter's affinity with the more earthly manifestation of these.

It's easy for you to feel lost at sea and for those of you who have had the Neptune doubling up on your Pisces planets a little buoyant Jupiter throwing a more vibrant aspect to your planets will be very welcome.

Sagittarius is your solar 10th House, so actually this year will show a lot of support going on for you career-wise. If you have ideas or areas at work which you think you could really develop your knowledge or experience, this is the time to speak up.

Further training could be of great benefit to you this year, or it could be that you already have a skillset which is being overlooked and would bring you a lot more fulfilment.

An entire change in direction will occur for many Pisces, and it will be of great benefit to you whatever it is. Your tendency towards self-doubt is your weakness, if you allow Jupiter to boost your confidence this year, you can achieve so much more than you think. Go for it Pisces!

Escapism in the natal chart ~how we have learned to see ‘addiction’

The study of ‘addiction’ is one which fascinates me, how much of it is habitual, or rebellion, is it really as heady and definitive as we are led to believe?

In the astrological chart, most will look to Neptune as the perpetrator of addictive tendencies, it’s often those with Neptune (or Pisces) in a prominent position natal (at birth) who will declare themselves to have ‘addictive personalities’. In my experience what this means is that they tend to experience difficulty in calling on ‘willpower’ which is deemed to be what is best utilised in the fight against dependency upon substances.

Pluto can also be interpreted to be linked to compulsive and more destructive behavioural patterns. Those people with a strong Pluto (or Scorpio) signature in their charts are likely to want to explore, embrace and be enveloped by the ‘darker’ or shadow side of the psyche.

On the other hand Saturn, the planet of control, structure and authoritative obedience, is far less likely to be found in the chart of ‘addicts’ or those who like to indulge. It is the planet which rules the concept and implementation of all which, ‘willpower’ is deemed to represent.

So, how about I turn the tables on these concepts and look a little more deeply into the actual mechanisms of that which causes compulsive behavioural characteristics?

I have noted that those who have Saturn and the desire to be ‘in control’ prominently featured in their personality, are often drawn to the intoxicating effects to alcohol. Having studied charts for many years I have noted that when drunk; the effect it has on most people, is that Saturn fails to function in the personality. So, to consider somebody with a very prominently placed Saturn, say touching up the more personal areas of a chart, these areas which are usually processed through a refined and fairly restricted filter, the alcohol effectively helps to liberate these parts of the psyche.

This can work in a destabilising manner, or a liberating manner, it will actually vary based upon other circumstances, but it's fair to say that there will be a 'freeing' effect in the particular area of the chart where Saturn is prominent. In a reverse motion, those who suffer from anxiety may find that this is pronounced in just the same area of the personality when the effect of alcohol wears off.

As always the key is in balance, a little bit of intoxication can uninhibit a very uptight personality in an extremely beneficial way. On the other hand, if taken to the extreme, built up stresses and tensions are liable to be released, so it's not a one fix cure.

Neptune, on the other hand, the planet which is said to 'rule' addiction and forms of escapism, may actually operate alone in its ability to be able to create an alternative reality. In a well-developed, creatively open personality, Neptune needs no encouragement to bring transcendental, visionary and expressive alternatives. Often somebody with a strongly placed Neptune will only turn towards mind-enhancement substances when they are actively suppressed, or pressured by outside forces. Therefore, in and of itself, Neptune does not indicate any proclivity towards the likelihood of the individual turning to alcohol or drugs as a 'crutch'. However, it is true that the more spiritual and uplifting sensations that Neptune can create are such that; once experienced in their vividity, never forgotten. On this basis, if any kind of drugs is used as an aid to reach these levels, the likelihood of wishing to do so again is high.

Those with a weaker placement of Neptune may very well be more inclined towards the externally created visionary experience, as they are less able to do so without assistant aids.

In many ways, those who use substances to remove the confines of Saturn are more likely to behave in a manner which resembles what is regarded to be 'addiction'. This is simply because Saturn is far more affiliated towards 'routine' and a lot of apparent dependency is connected to having a very predictable life. If I could tell you the amount of times I have been told that somebody finds it difficult to give up smoking, because of the, “cigarette after the meal,” or, “first thing in the morning,” or “with a drink at the pub.”

This is nothing to do with physical addiction, it is emotional dependence, based upon an apparently mundane view of their own lives and the need for something to appear to 'lift' oneself higher than ones usual state. I will also add, that when I (accidentally) gave up smoking I experienced no physical withdrawals whatsoever, and because I had chosen not to make associations between smoking and other activities, I found this was not a problem either. Of course this does lead to the question of whether physical withdrawal symptoms are mentally created, in some cases, on the basis of expectation and mental programming. Smoking itself does not link particularly to any planetary signature, it links simply to emotional suppression and that is more of a cultural (or anti-cultural) issue, from what I have observed.

Now a lot of people will find that no matter what the signature of their natal chart, a trigger from the currently movement of the planets will exacerbate or rebalance habitual behaviour. In this situation, where Neptune links to the personal planets, there can be a problem with sudden dependency upon external mind-altering substances (or indeed, an enhancement in the sensory experience of one's life). This is where most of the issues come in, and actually, even more so with Pluto transits.

Pluto tends to link itself to extremes and a desire to uncover the deepest, darkest, depths of the psyche. Strongly placed in a natal chart, we see people with a gift for analysis, psychological profiling, psychic/intuitive ability and problem solving. A person with a lot of Pluto/Scorpio will often want to try every drug available; not because they are liable to become addicted, but because their need to explore and understand everything; especially the more taboo areas, is profound. This actually doesn't lead to addictive-type behaviour, simple because this would interfere with the mission to discover in other areas.

On the contrary however, Pluto aspecting a chart which is not so well connected with this natally, is the most dangerous indicator of extreme and life-threatening behavioural changes. It is a given that Pluto will bring the darkest and most intense upheavals to an individual affected by this small outer planet. For those who are less comfortable with uncovering dark truths, this can be a devastating experience; one which tends to leave us wiser, more enlightened, and freer, but during can bring us to our knees. In terms of becoming dependent upon substances or a mind-altering variety, this is the worst time in which to indulge, as they will provide a temporary release, followed by a more profound sense of alarm in many cases.

So, the summarise, the kind of charts I observe to tend to turn to mind altering and alcohol dependency on a very regular basis often feature very prominent Saturns. Mostly because society in the West is restrictive to the point of overload for those who are already naturally conscientious. Those charts which feature strong Neptunes will often use escapist measures, but are less likely to become addicted, unless in an environment which calls for unnatural levels of prescience (i.e. the music industry, and other performing roles; where alertness is required against the odds).

Charts with strong Plutos will use substances to empathise and explore other mental states.

Pluto aspects can create a likelihood of a more dangerous desire to uncover the darkness and deepest levels of addiction. Saturn transits will require an escape outlet and Neptune transits will provide a temporarily heady and explorative existence, but one which will often rebalance after the occasion.

For those who are born with personal aspects between Saturn and Neptune or Saturn and Pluto, a more complex signature has to be acknowledged, but one which I am loathe to cover on a general basis.

If you would like to learn more about your own personal chart and how addiction and/or escapist tendencies are marked. Or, if you would like some assistance with rebalancing a life which is dependent upon certain substances, then do contact me for a reading.

Aries & Gemini & Cancer Forecast ~ April, May, June 2018

Aries Forecast ~ April to June 2018

{a slightly longer write up for Aries this quadrant, since it is your birthday month}

The month begins with Mercury retrograde in your sign Aries, moving in this apparent backward motion up until the 15th April, those born between 25th March and 2nd April will be feeling this most keenly.

Mercury retrograde periods are renowned for their apparent ability to cause computers to break down, traffic to become notably worse and general miscommunication to occur in all areas of life. Since this Mercury retrograde is in Aries, this time around you will feel it more impactfully. It will seem more personal somehow and most likely have a more jarring effect upon your day to day life; forcing you to consider alternatives and refine your usual routines.

Frustrations will be at their most notable on 2nd April as your ruling planet, Mars meets up with restrictive Saturn in Capricorn, assuaging your enthusiasm, almost instantaneously, like a burst balloon. The issue will most likely lie with work and your views and interactions with the outside world. You will be questioned, have to double-check, correct and be basically stalled and stifled by events on this day. These things are not happening, 'just to wind you up' but to help you recognise that a more measured and steady approach, can at times, bring better long-term rewards. Steamrollering can be wonderfully effective, but not for everything.
Being an Aries you are likely to have a shorter fuse than most, but know that the positives of Mercury retrogrades are in the potential of viewing things differently, having to redo things that perhaps weren't really considered quite so much as they should have been in the first place. It's also an opportunity to slow down, re-evaluate and look at whether the recent life choices you have made are actually appropriate after all. It's easy to run around from one thing to another, to keep busy and active, but it's not always the means in which to make progress in life.

You may be wishing for Spring, impatiently considering all that you would be able to do, if the conditions were more conducive, but in reality there are loose ends and refinements to make beforehand.

Passions will be rising to the surface for Ariens around 11th to 15th April, as the Sun in Aries meets with powerful, transformative Pluto. Venus and Mars, also meet up for one of their regular rendezvous' and invite dreamy, romantic Neptune into their waltz. The frustrations of the first half of the month will dissipate in a cloud of hopeful harmonies and a fervour of frission.

The upbeat vibe is set to continue, as you find yourself far more expressive, positive and upbeat during the second half of April. For those born around 17th April, the lunar proximity will set off a sparkling New Moon energy, throwing the planet of chaos, creativity and vision (Uranus) into the mix and promising you a solar year to remember!

With Uranus soon to be making a temporary farewell to Aries, this is a new Moon which implies a 'last chance', to fulfil your dreams, make that mark and change something in your life you've been thinking about for the last year or few. Although Uranus will make a revisit to Aries later in the year, after 2018 there genuinely won't be another chance of this kind. Uranus won't be in Aries again until the year 2095!

{Contact me at waxlobster@hotmail.com if you would like a £20 report on how best to utilise Uranus in your personal chart}

Your confidence continues through the latter part of April, even as the Sun moves into Taurus on the 20th. There will be a 'blip' on the 25th when you find your confidence dipping and your vulnerabilities rising to the surface. This may well manifest in anger also, as your ruling planet (Mars) meets up with Pluto and causes a very potent explosive energy. In fact take it easy around 26th April as accidents and more widespread issues are more possible when Mars and Pluto collide in this way. If you can expend the passion in a more focussed, expressive and/or meaningful way then all the better. Everyone is going to be edgy at this time, but people will be a bit more sexy too….

The full Moon at 9 Scorpio at the end of the month will add to this tension on 30th April, so if you've been single up until this point, it could be a good time to change that. Chemistry will be at it's peak, where it lurks already….

Those of you born at the very beginning of Aries (21st to 23rd March) are going to have the interesting experience of Chiron reaching your Sun during April and May. Chiron takes around 50 years to go around the Sun, so for many of you this will be a first time experience and one which brings a deep level of sensitivity to your life, in a way you won't have experienced before.

{I can offer you a Chiron analysis for £20 also: waxlobster@hotmail.com}

Otherwise May rolls up some nice upbeat energies, which are mostly congenial and enjoyable, until the big change occurs on the 15th May. This is the day that Mars moves from Capricorn into compatible, more sociable Aquarius and Uranus moves into Taurus for the first time in 84 years! The calm may be a balm and certainly you will start to notice that there is less upheaval in your life with the loss of Uranus (although you may notice that things are more dull also).

May is a less eventful month and one in which you can take a bit of time out and enjoy; with Venus in Cancer (from 20th May), it may be fruitful to spend a little more time beautifying and enjoying your home environment. On 25th May a lovely connection between Jupiter and Neptune will be felt in an uplifting manner for anybody who enjoys creativity that buoyant connected feeling of appreciation and the higher levels of communication that we can learn by observing animals and nature. The month ends with a lovely excuse for celebrations with great friends, topped off perfectly with a full Moon in fun loving Sagittarius on 29th.

June begins with a lovely set up of harmonious aspects, communications will be great, the romantic backdrop is still having its say, you feel confident to express your true feelings at the moment Aries. Often you are an 'actions speak louder than words' kind of sign, but this is going to change a fair bit over the coming years. As Chiron slowly starts to have an affect upon you and, as always, the backdrop for adjustment is being provided supportively and synchronistically by the other planets, you find that things are gradually changing bit by bit. Uranus has left your sign, and you, with a feeling of being slightly changed by the experiences of the last 7 years. You're not quite the same person you were before and you wouldn't wish to be; there are more strings to your bow and more notes in your heart.

There's going to a be an unproductive, and hazy feeling surrounding 6th and 7th June but the new Moon in Gemini on 13th will reassemble your thoughts, whilst on the same day, Venus strolls into flamboyant Leo, craving a similarly emphatic response in it's fellow fire signs (Aries & Sagittarius) and other animals..

The 15th & 16th of June will be you feeling a little less connected again, but Mars is still in Aquarius your house of friends and social focus. Although you may not be feeling as gregarious as you were a few weeks ago, as Mercuy is in more sombre and domestic Cancer, with the Sun following shortly afterwards (moving to Cancer late 21st June) there is a feeling of possibility and increased connectivity.

You will be looking at the potentials to rejig your finances (with Uranus now in the house which can change this area at the drop of a hat), and you will still be digging deeper into the shadow sides of your personality, as Jupiter completes its year sojourn; exploring the psychological depths of Scorpio.

The month ends with a rather sombre full Moon in Capricorn, which links up with Saturn in the sign he rules and bringing that sense of order and control, with a nod to financial stability, status and all of the parameters set upon those who allow this to be their fulcrum.

No doubt, politically this full Moon will bring an awareness of heaviness and constrictions, but what goes down will inevitably spring back up. Somehow. In some way and the winds of change are now shifting from fire pits (Uranus in Aries) to stubborn, dogged, determined and focused shifts in the money markets (Uranus in Taurus)…. {more about that later}

Shalom~~~~

Gemini Forecast ~ April to June 2018

The month begins at the exact midpoint of ruling planet, Mercury’s retrograde cycle, as it meets up with the Sun in Aries.

You’ve already had that feeling of progress being halted for the last week or so and that will continue. Social areas will be most affected, along with the obvious communication breakdowns, IT issues and transport issues.

With Mars and Saturn also throwing some stalling energy to Mercury during the first week of the month, your intuition will feel blocked and areas of emotions which have been glossed over in the past will rise to the surface for acknowledgement. When Mars and Saturn get together it’s only the most mundane, planned and methodical approaches which work, you may have to resign yourself to this until the more uplifting creative energies begin on 7th April.

The second week of April in absolute contrast to the first; will be uplifting, hazy, romantic and dreamy. There will be a lovely balance of masculine and feminine energy with Venus and Mars bringing harmony on 11th and as they both allow uplifting, esoteric Neptune in on the act, this will be great week to share love and show the important people how much you appreciate them. Single Geminis should get out and about this week to take advantage of the connectivity.

As Mercury finally begins to move in forward motion on 15th April, anything you have been working on can actually start moving. The new Moon in Aries the following day may coincide with a social gathering or two and expect the unexpected, as this is the last chance for Uranus in Aries to throw a few curve balls of its own brand of humourous chaos into the mix.

This also heralds the move of Chiron from Pisces, to Aries. After a number of years of blocks and lack of progress in the career section of your life, opportunities will start to open up again and new recognition is likely (although more pronounced again in 2019).

Venus moves into your sign shining it’s spotlight onto your best traits from 24th April and making you feel appreciated, popular and like your charisma is even more effective and winning than ever. Although there will be problems at glitches to resolve on 25th & 26th April, probably at work, the month will end on a good note, although do watch out for the collision of Mars and Pluto. Together they can create marvellous passion, but suppressed they can explode out into uncontrollable rage. Public places; including roads, may be fraught with tension and geological manifestations such as falling rocks, and earthquakes become more likely.

On the contrary the first week of May is congenial, productive and upbeat. Ideas will be flowing again and your ruling planet, Mercury is now moving at full speed, able to gather and process information at the kind of pace that you most relish.

During the second week there is a notable build up to Uranus – the planet of chaos, revolution, invention and higher though – moving into Taurus for the first time since the 1942, after 7 years in Aries. Interestingly, as if to ease us in gently, Mars moves into Uranus ruled Aquarius on the 15th April also. As Mars rules Aries, this divine timing provides a very symbol transition period from the instant kinds of reactions of Aries, to the more steady, planned and controlled energies of Taurus. For you this is hidden, and less obvious area of your chart, and bringing a subconscious desire for change which can be best utilised through meditation and intuition.

{if you would like to understand how Uranus moving into Taurus affects you on a more personal level, then contact: waxlobster@hotmail.com for a £20 analysis}

Finances will be looking up towards the latter part of May, along with the desire to be a little more inclined to actually spend a bit of time looking into them in the first place!

When the full Moon on the 29th May in Sagittarius occurs, relationships and the balance between you and the closest people in your life will be in the spotlight. Since our solar 7th House is gregarious, fun, loving Sagittarius, this could bring cause to celebrate and indulge. Summer is nearly here, the Sun is in your sign and finally the stresses of day to day life can take a backseat.

June begins with a lovely set of warm, communicative and loving connections in the planet world. The warmth from these will be reflected in the atmosphere, and people are going to be a bit more kind and generous than they have for a while.

There may be a blip around the 7th when misunderstandings are going to be caused by low overall energy, and mid-June will bring us all promptly back down to earth.

On 13th although the new Moon in your sign connects warmly with Jupiter and promises fun and frivolity, the reality will be a lot more complicated, as egos start to inflate and bring to the surface wounds and unspoken words that will bring about a few conflicts.

Later in the month these issues will die down but when the Sun moves into Cancer for a morning Solstice on the 21st June, the crossfire with restrictive, serious, earthy Saturn will take centre stage and come to a head at the full Moon on 28th of the month. The energy is not alarming, as it is controlled and rather restrictive in nature but the beginning of June will be a far better time to celebrate and enjoy until the real Summer months begin.

Cancer Horoscope - April to June 2018

Things aren't very smooth at work at the moment really are they Cancer? The month begins with this is focus, as Mercury retrograde in your career house, meets up with the Sun in Aries, exacerbating these concerns. There's nothing else for it, but to surround yourself with great friends, and live it up a little. Venus in Taurus from 1st can at least promise you some fun, social times.

Relationships are under a bit of strain so far this year also, as Saturn in your opposite sign ask you to focus not just upon what you think you want, but to state your real needs candidly. With Mars also joining up here on 4th April, tensions will be high. The only way to work with this configuration is to stay focussed, planned and be as honest and measured as you can manage.

The second week of the month is far better, for all of us, as Venus and Mars the archetypal feminine and masculine planets join forces and add creative, inspirational Neptune into their circle. There will be a general 'feel good' factor to mid-April. Plan around it Cancer, use it to take a little time out, you've had a lot of stress on your shoulders so far this year but you can only really relax when you feel happy enough to appreciate it. The period from 7th April to 17th April will be uplifting and far more tranquil for you.

As Saturn turns retrograde on 18th the early Cancerians (those born up to 28th June) will start to feel under scrutiny once more. Look at this way; you cannot master anything in life unless you work hard to refine and improve at it, whilst Saturn opposite your Sun may seem oppressive, you will come out of it so much more knowledgeable, strong and capable.

{If you'd like to me to provide a focussed report of how Saturn in Capricorn is affecting you over the next 2 years or so, then I can do so for £20, just contact me at: waxlobster@hotmail.com}

The career focus continues however, despite Mercury retrograde taking his confusion and requests for refinements and flexibility from the focus on 15th April, you may begin to notice that your vulnerabilities are still at the fore, as Chiron joins Mercury in Aries. Interestingly this comes along to, in a sense, replace the chaotic 7 year sojourn of the planet of change and revolution; Uranus.

To surmise, although there will be more stability in your career life from mid-April, you may start to feel a need/desire to bring a more healing and compassionate element into your choice of workplace. With Chiron the planet which rules our deepest most vulnerable areas of ourselves, this area of your life, perhaps it's time to utilise your deeply compassionate and emotional nature and channel it into an area where it can really make a difference?

From 24th April, as Venus moves into Gemini try to take a little time out to nurture yourself, regenerate, and if you are so inclined; also meditate. The meet up between Mars and Pluto in your opposite sign on the 26th will be intense however. If you are in an unsatisfactory relationship at this time, issues will come to a head. If you are single, then this isn't a great time to meet somebody, it is however a great time to assess what you want vs what you need and look to beginning to manifest this into your life. Still things will be explosive in the outside world, as well as personal relationships, so take it easy at the end of the month Cancer.

May begins with a more positive, grounded and productive energy. With April ending on a Full Moon in compatible Scorpio, there is a sense of a new start. Just like an excellent brunch meet-up with friends, Sprummer has actually begun!

For the first half of the month, ideas are flowing, the heaviness has passed and your best qualities are coming to the fore. The new Moon on the 15th makes you want to socialise and let your hair down a little more and this will coincide neatly with Uranus moving into the social area of your chart.

I mentioned earlier about the desire to fined a little more meaning and a deeper level of fulfilment into your work world, and you may start to consider working in more charitable areas. Perhaps, considering whether your day to day life impacts the community and others who need help the most. Whilst Uranus is in Taurus you will have a lot more sway in these areas, and this influence lasts a mighty years. There is much your compassionate nature can accomplish in this time.

There's no rush, the planet of revolution, invention and genius is going to be stick around for a while. This period is the time when you consider potential change. Of course some of you will already be making waves in your lives, and so this is an opportune time to take advantage of your added influence in these areas. You have gravitas, people are willing to listen to you, where you are usually shy the serious caste from Saturn is actually giving you a deep confidence that you can utilise, rather than simply feel restricted by.

The Full Moon at the end of May gets you to the mundane focus. Facts, figures, balance, and are you eating well enough at the moment?

June begins with a loving, romantic essence to it. Single Cancerians will have a far more conducive time of it in the first half of June, although keep an eye on your intensity. Fun at first, depths can be explored in good time.

Mercury will be in your sign on 12th June and the new Moon in Gemini follows. Unexpressed feelings will be brought up for healing at this time. Arm yourself with a few of the close people, so you can be frank and comfortable, should you need to feel connected. (You probably will)

Finances finally take an upturn towards the end of June, in time for your special time of the year, the Summer Solstice – which will be at exactly 10:07am (UK time) – if you wish to note it.

Long-term plans will start to take centre stage at the end of the month as the build to the Full Moon on 28th June asks you to not only answer some serious questions, but also to pre-empt the future ones. No matter your age Cancer, this is a year where you're going to feel more grown up and mature, just try to remember how much more accomplished, experienced, wise and caring you will be at the end of it all though. ♥

Forecast; Jan-March 2018 for Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio

Leo Sun (also applies to Leo Rising)
January to March 2018 –

Leo is the only sign whose ruling planet is predictably in the same part of the sky every year. Solar ruled as you are, there is a level of predictability to which parts of your life are highlighted from month to month. Perhaps that adds to the sense of self Leos are so famous for?

The year begins, as always with the Sun in Capricorn, moving through your 8th House, an introspective house by all accounts. (Please note this is written from the perspective of Sun in Leo but is unlikely to reflect the houses in your own personal chart).

There is however a great desire to be socialising and communicating with as many people as Jupiter and Mars; fellow fire ruling planets, meet up in your 3rd House which also connects to your local environment, neighbourhood and imaginative pursuits.

The new Moon on 19th January re-emphasises the 8th house focus however and energies will be re-directed towards passions and what we share with others. Whilst the 8th relates to resources and finances it is inextricable linked to ‘the other’ and how integrating our lives with people affects us on all levels, not just physically but energetically. Do the closest people in your life add to your energy, or do they sap it at times?

Right after the new Moon the Sun will move into your 7th House of partnerships, joining Juno which is also present in Aquarius until the end of February. If single you will be thinking about meeting a partner, it’s a lull at this time of year for Leos. Most of you are built for the Summer and a more social sphere, so this is the time of year when you want to find a mate and be more laid back and conservative. Do note though that the Lunar Eclipse on 31st January will fall in your own sign and major compromise may be required in order to achieve what you wish. Leos born around 1-5th August will feel this the most, as it is a full eclipse at 11º and will signify ‘endings’ in the area of your life it touches.

The partial solar eclipse on 15th February casts a shadow over Valentine’s day and gregarious gestures may not feel so appropriate and tensions in personal relationships become more apparent. It’s a learning curve for you at the moment as the transiting nodes through your sign urge you to take a deeper look at yourself, who you are, how you interact and what your life goals actually are. For Leos, often, a positive take on life is enough to manifest a happy enough existence, but nodes mean eclipses and these always force change upon us for better or for worse (in the short term, in the longer term change is always necessary and for good).

Saturn’s recent shift into Capricorn brings the day to day concerns of how you are organising yourself, your life, your health and your home. These rudimentary concerns generally belong to the domain of Virgo but as your adjacent sign many Leos will have Virgo affiliations and are well suited to this 2.5 year period of Saturn’s passage through the solar 6th House. It’s a time when hard work will pay off, and exercise regimes will have a notable effect.

For the later Leos the ending of Uranus’ transit through Aries will be notable, as it sends your Sun a harmonious burst of creative activity. Later born Leos will already have felt this throughout 2017 and most likely welcome the increased creativity and spontaneity that Uranus adds to the mix. Come May the chaotic planet will be floating through your career house, where it is not so comfortable, so make the most of your frivolous inclinations during this time.

The full Moon on 2nd March will bring to the fore that which you own and are responsible, considerations of that which is yours and that which is another’s will be a focal point in March as the New Moon the 17th March will fall close to Chiron in Pisces. A lot of us seek comfort in others as a way to not look at ourselves or have to think of life as a personal journey. Sometimes we end up surrounded by people who don’t resonate with us, simply as a preferred alternative to loneliness. There is a sense of having to weigh up who and what in your life is actually working for you at this time. I sense that 2018 has begun with an unusually serious tone for many of you but any time spend looking at who you really are will be so healthy in the long run.

March is also a good time to physically de-clutter your life. Throw out anything you no longer need or use, have a spring clean, start afresh. This year is a time of change but so long as you look after your basic needs the changes can be fabulous!

Virgo Sun (also applies to Virgo Rising)
January to March 2018 –

The year begins with a lovely meeting between energising planets Mars and Jupiter, moving together through your solar 3rd house of communication (do note that the houses in your personal chart will mostly likely be different). This helps you begin the idea with ideas and inspiration, shortly followed by a week featuring the Sun and Venus being tracked by Saturn in Capricorn. Saturn moved into its 'home' sign of Capricorn in late December and will remain in situ for around 2.5 years, which will actually work very well for Virgos.

With Capricorn being a fellow earth sign, you will benefit from the trine from Saturn which will affect you at different times, depending upon when you were born. Those Virgos who were born in August will feel this support Saturn energy between now and the end of March. Saturn is the taskmaster; and celebrates commitment, constructive planning and hard work. Effectively, using Capricorn as your solar 5th House, we are looking at areas of creativity and that connected with performance, drama, dance, children and all forms of expressive of art. Saturn here will show you how to have discipline and practise can have a freeing impact upon these kinds of pursuits.

Later Virgos will be feeling less supported as Chiron, your ruling planet opposes the position of your Sun. Those born between 17th-22nd September in particular will be aware of this year (and the last 6 months of 2017) being quite a learning curve. Whilst Chiron your ruler is about healing, understanding vulnerability and reaching out to others with passion. It also does give a feeling of isolation and a keen empathy for others' suffering, whether on a small scale, or on a much larger one. The positive upside is that Virgos are often drawn to 'make a difference' and direct their work towards the betterment of mankind. Late Virgos will be considering how to integrate this kind of empathic consciousness into their daily lives at this time, most likely as a result of recognising some of their own personal sorrows.

Key dates throughout this period are 14th and 26th January, 7th February & 4th March, all dates highlighing a cycle between Venus and Chiron and bring ideas for how to bring kindness and healing to others.

There will be a full lunar eclipse on 31st January in Leo, the solar 12th House. This could bring interesting dreams, and memories of childhood. It would be helpful to meditate on anything which comes up at this time, the 12th house is concerned with the unconscious mind and can give clues as to what deep programming may be holding us back and blocking our progress in life. Eclipses are about endings, so awareness could be helpful, as otherwise changes could be very unexpected at this time.

The Partial solar eclipse on 15th February will bring domestic concerns to the fore. This is a good time to rearrange furniture, organise finances or begin a new health regime. The 6th House correlates naturally to Virgo and so this Aquarius New Moon is always a good time for Virgos, and the beginning of the Chinese New year also.

The Full Moon on 2nd March will bring a peak of productivity, as it will be in your own sign of Virgo. Fall at 10 degrees those born around 3rd September will be affected most, but use the energy to finish projects and make the most of the energy burst. Mercury will move into retrograde motion on 23rd March so these 3 weeks at the start of the month will be the most productive of the period for Virgos.

Furthermore, the new Moon on 17th March falling in the house of partnerships will start to put the emphasis more firmly upon the 'other'. Those closest to you may have wishes to state at this point, as the sign most likely to be of service to others, you do have the tendency to be very receptive to the wishes and needs of those close to you. Unlike Pisces, your opposite sign, you will do so wordlessly and gracefully for a while until it becomes too much. Again, late Virgos are more likely to be prone to this cycle at this time with Chiron in opposition to your Sun currently and with this new Moon falling very close to this point. It's okay to state you *own* wishes from time to time Virgo. There will be many people feeling vulnerable at this time and potentially asking for your help, try not to give more than you have.

Remember that Saturn in Capricorn is the beginning of a supportive, productive and very strong time for Virgos and whilst this year won't necessarily be smooth sailing, you will feel grounded, capable and equipped to deal with anything that is thrown at you during this time.

Libra Sun (also applies to Libra Rising)
January to March 2018 –

2018 begins with Venus in Capricorn, and forming a nice conjunction to the Sun in the first few days. This is a nice, harmonious connection in your house of home Libra. (I refer to your solar 4th House, but this may differ in your personal chart).

Saturn recently moved into Capricorn to begin it's 2.5 year visit and whilst the early born Libras may have felt the tension of a difficult angle from Saturn in Capricorn to your own Sun position, there is a natural understanding between Libra and Saturn. Since Saturn is exalted (perform best) in Libra, it can add a sense of clarity and structure to your Sun, which at times can be a known as 'indecisive' and is certainly prone to over-adapting to its surroundings at times.

Capricorn is your solar 4th House and his deals with all things home and family, including how and where you live, your relationship with your family, the type of upbringing you have had and, to some extent, even genetics. So, expect there to be serious considerations around where you live, whether this is financially viable, and purchasing your own property at this time. With Mars & Jupiter in your 2nd House, finances feel unusually robust, despite so many being out of pocket, from having literally 'bought into' the commercialism of December.

The new Moon at the end of Capriorn on 19th January takes place very close to Venus, which has just moved into Aquarius and despite the square to the chaotic planet; Uranus, this is a great time to begin something new, fulfilling and creative. Anything begun on a new Moon is more likely to stand the test of time and since there is still a focus upon home, perhaps a dream board of how, where, and when you would like to change residence could have a powerful manifesting impact.

Venus will remain in Aquarius until 11th February, encouraging a creative, fun and frivolous side to life. Those feeling the Saturn square to their Suns will still be aware of the pressures of having to work extra hard to stay afloat and successful at this time. Mid-later born Libras will be feeling a bit more fun-loving at this time. Late Libras will be experiencing the last of Uranus (ruler of Aquarius, change, chaos, invention) opposing their Suns and this can be both unnerving and exciting. It's a once in a lifetime experience though Libra, so embrace it. Not everything should be predictable or controlled and the best ideas nearly always come from 'out of nowhere'.

This year's first eclipse takes place on 31st January and will be in Leo, reigning in some changes to your social circle. Your solar 11th House is concerned with community and ecological issues, but also friendships and like-minded groups. Since Eclipses to bring 'endings' there could be some notable changes at this time, perhaps by the end of the Summer you will find that your social life has changed altogether. Try not to resist changes, they are there to help us evolve.

Venus in more romantic Pisces from 11th February may feel a little insipid but it's an imaginative time also. Shortly followed by a partial Solar Eclipse on 15th February, this could actually turn out to be quite a romantic time for many Libras. Whilst Aquarius can be deemed as one of the 'colder' signs of the zodiac, for Libra Sun it rules short term romances. Not to say that they remain short-term but this house is about the beginning of relationships when they are just beginning. Single Libras should get out and about on the weekend following this full moon, settled Libras, you have an excuse to be your most schmaltzy and cheesy, something your sign is known for doing best!

A lot of Libras have had a tough run of late with Pluto squaring the Sun and forcing some difficult personal changes upon you. Throughout 2018 those who will be affected will be those born from the 11th to 15th October, those born earlier will already relate to what I'm talking about (although this transit could have ocurred up to 7 years ago for the very early Libras). Depending upon whereabouts in your personal chart Pluto has been, you will have had to let go and probably experience some notable losses and personal changes to your life as a result. The key with this is to recognise that change is inevitable and that the winding, twisting path of life brings us things that we may not welcome but leaves us as stronger, more powerful individuals if we allow ourselves to be grateful rather than resentful when things don't go as planned.

The final new Moon of the winter will be on 17th March and falls in Pisces. This area of the chart is connected with day to day issues but this is a great time to look at starting a new health regime, rearranging ones home, or generally having a spring clean to better enhance personal energy. In fact a lot of March will be about refining and purity ones' self and life, as Venus in the solar 6th House from 11th March will shine a light on all that would usually be associated with Virgo and health. If you take care of yourself in March, Libra, you will have a whole lot more energy to expend when it comes to the Summer months.

{to learn more about how Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are affecting you throughout 2018 contact me at: waxlobster@hotmail.com}

Scorpio Sun (also applies to Scorpio Rising)
January to March 2018 –

In October 2017 uplifting Jupiter entered Scorpio and you've been feeling the benefits ever since. Those born within the first half of the sign in particular, will already have had the planet of luck, fortune, expansion and academic success touching on your natal Sun and giving you an energy boost and optimist that had been sadly lacking for a while.

The year begans with energetic Mars also in Scorpio and sailing through happily alongside Jupiter, meeting up as they did on 7th January. Mars remains in Scorpio until the 27th January (and Jupiter until September 2018) so you will feel a little more vibrant than you usually would during January.

With Saturn now in Capricorn, since its entry in late December, you will have a serious, focussed mindset (writing as I am from the perspective of Sun in Scorpio, do note that your personal chart will likely feature different house emphases). Capricorn is the 3rd solar House and deals with communication, ability to disseminate information, it rules the media and your neighbourhood also. Saturn will bring a serious tone to your thoughts and plans and, since it remains here for 2.5 years, this would be a great time for any of you aspiring writers out there to get started. The thing with Saturn is, it helps to maintain a steady, constructive flow of energy, so if you do begin something based upon Saturn in your 3rd you are far more likely to follow through and finish it.

Scorpio whilst a fixed sign, is not known for its patience; often ahead of the game in terms of awareness intuition, you are frequently more aware of others' motivations and thoughts, sometimes before they are themselves. This ability is often under-used but the new Moon on 17th January is bidding you to look at how you can integrate this ability into your world more effectively.

The following Lunar Eclipse on 31st January will fall in Leo, the sign which for you is connected with career and your standing in the world. Perhaps by better utilising your ability to psychologically understand not only other people, but the framework of the world around us, you could use this eclipse to further your stance career-wise?

Certainly Eclipses bring change and often endings, so areas of your work, or even your parenting (as social standing applies equally to how our children view us) could be adapted and refined at this time, to greater success.

With Jupiter in your sign most changes will be in your favour this year Scorpio, use it to your advantage, plan what you really want to experience in your life and take steps towards to creating that.

Through the first half of February; Mercury and Venus moving hand in hand through Aquarius brings harmony to your home life. Creative changes and warm interactions are well supported, if you'd like to refurbish or beautify your surroundings ideas will be plentiful and finances should be available also, as Venus puts a positive spin on finances in general. Get your paintbrush out, even for a little art therapy, if not to brighten up your environment.

Single Scorpios will find that romance is on the cards for them from 11th February with Venus moving into Pisces, your solar house of romance. Use the weekend following which features a new Moon and partial eclipse, to socialise, house parties hosted by yourself or others, will be particularly fruitful in this regard. The new Moon in Aquarius falls in the 4th House, so an introduction by family or in a residence is likely for those looking to meet somebody. Settled Scorpios, equally can enjoy the romantic haze from the comfort of your own homes. It's good to set an intention with a New Moon and so a little cleansing ritual using white sage, and a nod to basic feng shui, will enhance the efficacy of any energy you send out into the ether.

March continues to be an excellent time for Scorpios looking for love and in general an expressive time where joining a dance class, or learning a musical instrument will be particularly enjoyable. For those who are already creatively advance, do find the time to express this. Neptune in the house of performing arts is very encouraging for Scorpio musicians and dancers, even film makers and actors can benefit from the creatively inspiring Neptune in such a support position.

Those born in mid-Scorpio will be feeling a lovely trine from Neptune this year and it will increase your intuitive capabilities also. If you are beginning a new creative pursuit, you could use the new Moon in Pisces on 17th March to make it a very positive new beginning. Although this New Moon meets up with the wounded healer Chiron and may feel quite emotional, this could add a greater depth to anything you begin.

Mercury will be moving into retrograde motion on 23 March, so this will actually help you to revise and refine anything you begin learning earlier in the month.

Solar Eclipse at 28'52 Leo~~ 21st August 2017~~ 7:30pm (UK)

It's been a while since I wrote an article about what's going on in the sky.  Part of the discouragement for me was that I had very little to offer in the way of optimism and positivity.  I am of the school that if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all.

However, despite the political climate being dire and dismal (in the UK and US at least) this was always going to be the case during Plutos transit of Capricorn.  Since Pluto rules change, rebirth, death, sex, upheaval (and overall in principle~~ letting go) and it's moving through the sign which is most affiliated with oppression, rules & regulations, hierarchy, power and achievement (at any cost), it will demand a change in the way we live.  We can't really continue to believe in a system which was created centuries earlier, by a set up which has no relevance to modern society.  Even the most unthinking of the species are starting to realise that the information they receive via the media is untrustworthy.  A revolution of sorts is inevitable.

Pluto through Capricorn began in January 2008 and will complete in January 2024, we have some time yet and the good news is that when Pluto enters the liberal sign of Aquarius there will be focus on equality and justice for all.  There may be upheavals on the path to improvement but such is the nature of how humans do things; badly mostly...

So that's just a background to an ongoing theme but this post is to cover today's Solar Eclipse in Leo.  Eclipses always come in twos or threes (good 'path of the ecliptic' if you need to know more) and this one follows a Lunar Eclipse which occurred two weeks ago on 7th August at 15'25 Aquarius.  Aquarians you probably felt it?  I certainly did with it being right next to my natal Sun position.

The first thing to note with Eclipses is that they are physically draining.  It's inexplicable, but not dissimilar to the exhaustion one feels after walking along a windy beach.  In theory no extra energy has been expended, but in reality something seems to have zapped the usual energy resource.  If you've felt tired this weekend and today also, just try to allow yourself more sleep.  Change is occurring, Eclipses always bring about change and usual unexpectedly, although often in a way so subtle that it is only retrospectively we can gauge what occurred.

Wherever mid-Aquarius is in your chart you will already have felt the winds of change blowing through your life.  For those with their Sun position in the middle of Leo, Taurus and Scorpio it will have had an affect on your view of yourself, as that is what the Sun in a chart denotes (what people more commonly and inaccurately refer to as a 'star sign').

Today's eclipse occurs at 7:30pm UK time at the end of Leo at 28'52, edging into the final degree.  If your birthday is around this time you will feel it most, if you have any other planets at this point in Leo you will affected a lot also.  For those with their Sun at the end of Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio, again you will feel this a lot in terms of yourself and your identity, but because it's at the end of the sign those who are born at the beginning of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius may also be impacted more personally.

Do note that Eclipses can be felt up to 6 months before and up to 6 months after they occur.  So it may be that you have already experienced a great deal of personal changes in the run up to this.  Eclipses also create a ~~~ripple~~~ effect and so one small difference can begin to filter into other areas of your world, perhaps unwittingly and invisibly at first.  Pay attention, there may be more going on under the surface that you think.  Everything is connected, even something small such as a change in personnel at work for instance, can have a much bigger impact on your life over time than you realise...

The chart for the Eclipse features, Mars in Leo, loosely conjunct from 20'41 Leo and forming a neat trine to Saturn, still retrograde in Sagittarius.  Mars in Leo is bolshy, outspoken and loves to show off, those born with Mars in Leo are often the life and soul of the party and crave attention just a little more than most (a lot more!) but when Mars is moving through Leo we all feel a share of the upbeat gregariousness.  With the trine to Saturn overt behaviour is reigned in and so the playful and creativity of Leo, is metered to become a little more structured and productive.

The Eclipse is also trine Uranus which is at 28'23 Aries and has just begun its retrograde sojourn.  As Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, is the planet of change, upheaval, sparks of genius and connectivity, it implies that the changes brought about by this solar eclipse may be done so ~consciously~.

Where so frequently Eclipses can signify unexpected and sometimes quite unwanted upheaval it does appear that this solar eclipse is providing us with a more insightful and concerted potential.  What do you wish to change in your life?  Are you happy with how you are living?  Who you are (or aren't) living with?  Does your work represent your talents, or does it just pay the bills?  Have you grown into the kind of person you wish to be, or are you focussing your energy in areas which no longer serve you?

We can all improve ourselves, no matter how far we have come or how much we have worked, there is always more we can do to refine our lives.  Sometimes what we need to do improve, is to allow ourselves to loosen up and just live.  (Laughter really is the best medicine) or perhaps you have been wanting to take up meditation or yoga, something which improves overall health, and have been putting it off?

Solar Eclipses are still New Moons and are incredibly powerful for bringing about changes.  We can improve ourselves at any time but the point of understanding astrology is to utilise the cycles of life.  Decisions and plans begun on a new moon are far more likely to have a long-term positive effect upon us than at any other time.  A Solar Eclipse is the most powerful time to begin something important and beginning something can be as simple as recording, or forming a strong intention in a particular area.  Whatever it is you want to do to change you life can be done today.  Even if you want to move to another area, saving a picture of your ideal and using it as your screensaver or wallpaper will be the first step in forming that intention.

If you want to find love, then lighting some pink candles in the relationship area of your room and accompanying that with a positive meditation will help form the intention.  If you want to change careers, write down your perfect job, find images of how you imagine your workspace to look.  Keep the images.  We can create anything we wish for, timing does need to be on our side also, but when there is a Solar Eclipse time really IS on your side (yes it is!)

Interestingly, with Jupiter now in balanced Libra and moving forwards again, it is beginning to form an opposition to Uranus in Aries.  These two planets together are the most potent in terms of manifesting wishes and dreams.  They won't be in exact opposition until the end of September, so anything you do begin to create now has a very good chance of manifesting in 5 weeks' time.

The key with bringing the dreams into fruition is to keep whatever it is you have begun in your sights.  Spend 5 minutes a day visualising and feeling the joy that you will feel once you have attained your wish ~~as if it has already happened~~

Good luck with creating your dreams!

Master of Illusion ~ the astrology of Johnny Depp ~ and being born in the 60s

I don’t tend to pay much attention to gossip, media or celebrity but this talk of Johnny Depp and how the public find it so difficult to believe he could have a violent temper is quite fascinating.

From an astrological point of view, I have no doubt whatsoever that he is not only explosive, but also has the capability to disengage from people completely at times. Since he has also admitted such, I don’t feel it is inappropriate to go into how this is backed up in his astrological chart.

I will begin by looking at the generational planets, which first illustrate an intensity commonplace to those born around during the 1960s. During this period Uranus and Pluto were transiting conjunct in Virgo, with this being exact on occasions between 1965 to 1967 and being within orb for most of the decade. As Uranus is the planet of revolution, humanitarian values and individuality and Pluto is about death, transformation and rebirth (like the phoenix from the ashes) these planets together create a potent combination.

Consider that during this period there were great changes in the western world, with the 1940s generations bringing forth the hippie movement with the backdrop of Uranus and Pluto demanding an ending from the old systems of values. These were the days when the term ‘teenager’ was derived and young adults demanded equality and freedom from the judgement of the past. Recreational drugs, the introduction of the pill and political activism all became game changers, as the Vietnam war began to create between the new wave of peace seekers.

This was an interesting time to be born and nothing which began during the mid-60s has ever reversed. Societal barriers had been broken forever, and popular culture was born.

A lot of these changes were initiated by the peace-loving, idealistic Neptune in Libra generation (born 1942 to 1957) whose peaceful focus continued through to the 1970s.

Johnny Depp was born back in 1963 when all these changes were beginning, along with technological advances symbolised by the meeting between Uranus and Pluto. Much of the generation with this conjunction in their natal chart have a need to make changes in the world around them on a regular basis. Just as the nature of this planetary combination brought societal changes, it has a similar type of effect in the personal charts of those born around this time.

For the most part this 60s generation are not peace-loving, easy going set of flower power kids that you’d hope (we had to wait for the Uranus in Libra generation to bring that back into the mainstream). No, this generation were angry, they didn’t want peace they wanted equality. This is the generation who invented punk, anti-establishment beliefs through aggression and were responsible for an increase in football violence. As they were coming to age, the post war financial boom was dissipated by a matching baby boom and conservatism and capitalism began to resurge in the UK. They had a reason to be angry and in the mid-70s when Saturn and Pluto squared up this reached boiling point.

There is also a desire for control and detailed analysis with this generation. This is the group that brought anorexia into the spotlight and when they came of age, made up a large portion of the forerunners of the internet. Their innovative talents brought us the modern world as we know it.

However, it is to be noted that those who were born with personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) next to the Uranus-Pluto conjunction, whilst often the ones who have attained more prominent careers, they also have control issues.

The spanner in the works is that Chiron was opposite this conjunct for most of the period also, along with Saturn, hence where the need for change and control becomes something far more emotionally wounding and complex. A lot of the emotional based diseases became more prevalent as a result of this very difficult configuration.

Looking now at Depp’s chart in more detail, we see that Chiron isn’t close enough to be a prominent feature in his chart. This is hardly surprising as Chiron does tend to dissipate self confidence when it features in a particularly conflicted position. Depp does however have Mars conjunct Uranus and Pluto and immediately we would expect to see the kind of self-expression that is unpredictable, erratic, powerful and very easily roused. Mars conjunct Uranus alone will show an individual who is drawn to the unusual, and likes to break from convention, rarely concerned with public opinion. Bring Pluto into this picture though, and we have a more destructive and aggressive potential. This person will not back down, relent, or see anything other than their needs and wants once opposed. It is a classic, out of control type of anger where they ‘see red’ and erupt like a volcano.

It’s very difficult to control this kind of anger and it can’t be easy to live with. In Depp’s chart the Mars-Uranus conjunction falling in the first house, ruled my Leo would imply that he rarely feels remorse. This is possibly why he hasn’t chosen to address, or soften this influence.

What fascinates me the most about all this though, is that the public apparently have such a difficulty in believing the reports. Whilst I’m not one to stay in touch with the media, I’m aware that those who read celebrity gossip are not usually those with the most discerning minds. In this case however, the majority have allegedly decided to reject these reports in favour of their own opinions (if only the masses were more inclined towards such choices!!).

This sway is of course shown in the astrological chart too though. Where in any person’s chart the MC and 10th House show the career, in the case of somebody who is well known this house becomes very important indeed. You can gauge ‘how the world sees somebody’ by the condition of the 10th House (the ruler, aspects to it, planets housed here etc.). So it is no surprise that Depp has a Mercury-Venus conjunction here, in the strong, reliable, predictable sign of Taurus no less.

No matter the circumstances, the public will see somebody who is eloquent and charismatic (Mercury-Venus), stable and grounded (Taurus MC) with a measure of self-control and conscientiousness (Saturn square Mercury-Venus from the 7th House) that simply cannot co-exist alongside a more complex, uncontrollable temper!

It fascinates me that an expectation of anybody could be one-dimensional. Surely we can all identify with having a number of contrary elements to our characters? Or perhaps not, perhaps one of the reasons depression and suppressive illnesses are so prevalent in this modern age is that people do try to fit themselves into a single behavioural expression.

What do you think?
