A week to be reckoned with; tidal waves and volcanoes.

It's been a little while since I wrote a piece (apologies there has been too much going on) but the configuration for this forthcoming Full Moon inspired me to action. Possibly because it falls close enough to my North Node (spiritual path) in my 3rd house of communication to have an impact prior to it's culmination.

Much of the past few months have been riddled with the proximity of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. These two heavy-weights have been causing havoc in the lives of those with planets between around 18-23 degree Capricorn and in aspect.

Let me touch on this first. For those of you who only know your Sun signs, you will definitely have been affected by this Saturn-Pluto cohort if you were born between; 9th to 14th January, 9th to 14th April, 10th to 16th July and 11th to 17th October.  Many many others will have been too, but I would have to look at the rest of your chart to ascertain.

The main experience of these two planets together is; great upheaval, your life being subject to unavoidable change and sometimes difficulty. I have seen the impact upon some people's health, due to increased stress levels, there have been financial implications too, and dips in the overall sense of well-being experienced. Due to this affecting so many people, the domino effect is that we are all aware of a lower overall energy surrounding us at the moment and vitality is lower than usual.

Fortunately Jupiter in Sagittarius is keeping up the spirits in some ways and will be more impactful again from mid-August onwards.

So, in terms of this Full Moon which will be at 9:30am (UK time), on Monday 17th June, the added energy of Mercury, Mars and the transiting node making an aspect to the Saturn-Pluto conjunct will lead to a very intense time indeed.

To explain. Mercury rules communication, wherever Mercury falls in our birthchart will denote how we communicate, in which ways we excel or flounder and it can also tell us about our voice, whether we have a gift for singing or writing, or intuition. A weak Mercury may be prone to gossip, talking too much or the inability to express oneself at all, where as a well developed Mercury may be an award winning writer, a charismatic speak or a beautiful singer.

On the other hand, Mars rules our physical energy. We all know that Mars is the archetypal masculine symbol and that it rules passion, sex, testosterone and drive. Along with this it is also linked to our physical vitality and therefore our health, and where it falls in our chart will show how strong, sporty, resilient, energetic and assertive we are. A poorly integrated Mars can be a very angry person, whereas a well used Mars may be a champion sports person.

Consider these two planets together in the home, loving, family oriented sign of Cancer and we can see a picture beginning to build. Certainly there will be a lot more to talk about whilst these two are together between Sunday 16th June and Thursday 20th June. There may be a lot of upfront dialogues, and issues raised which have been swept under the metaphorical carpet for a while. The closest people to you are the ones who can hurt you the most and at this time words may very well be spoken out of turn impulsively and emotionally.

Try to think before you speak but, also trust what you feel. If there are important thing left unsaid, it is healthier for all parties if these areas are aired. After all the impact of ones feelings towards their closest collaborates can be felt, whether the issue has been discussed or not. It is far more productive to be honest and open, providing the ability to move forwards and let go, than it is to hold onto pain, grudges or allow small irritations build into large defenses. (Pearls are decidedly out of fashion as it goes).

The nodes being in the mix with all this does imply that there will be some important decisions made globally this week. Mercury and Mars together can be feisty and at times, ferocious, but with their meet up being in opposition to that heavy, life-changing Saturn-Pluto conjunction I was talking about, gravitas and impact start to become more likely.

On a basic political view, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are there to shake things up, for better or for worse and mostly with the latter in mind first. In history humans have generally resisted change without upheaval and hardship figuring in the picture to start to rouse up the lethargy of the security-seeking, changing-fearing, everyday person. Most people don't like to rock the boat and hence, they will not try to make a difference until the boat capsizes. We've seen this time and time and again, and the human race hasn't evolved beyond this basic. Obviously this unfortunately means that, even in this day when we have all the knowledge and information available to us to make big changes, usually big events have to occur before action is taken.

I'm not saying anything momentous is going to happen this week, but I am saying that events that begin this week may lead to much bigger scenarios occurring further down the line. Saturn and Pluto only actually link up exactly once, and that will be on 12th/13th January 2020. There will be a link with what happens around this time, with outcomes that occur then.

A more political astrologer may make more definitive predictions here. As I've mentioned before, the last time Saturn and Pluto were together in Capricorn, was when Henry VIII made a treaty to unify Europe and reduce the attacks between neighbouring countries! (See Treaty of London 1518) I find it wonderfully ironic that the UK are trying to break away from Europe, under the same configuration that the Tudors used for unification. Have we evolved at all?

The pinnacle day to look out for this week is actually Thursday 20th June, as Mars opposite Pluto will pull the most punches; hopefully not literally. This is the most aggressive combination of planets and the most explosive. On a simple domestic level this is a day to be cautious; remember to turn the gas off, drive carefully, try to avoid road rage and confrontation, as things are so much more likely to escalate. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes and tornadoes are more likely too, so it's perhaps not the week to take a day trip to Vesuvius.

On the plus side Mars and Pluto together can move mountains with focus, and create amazing passion when two people work together in their energies, rather than opposing forces. This can be a healing time too when knowledge and awareness are used to create closeness, rather than chasms.

Disputes can happen in scenarios where there is a lack of balance between work and home also, as the featured signs of Cancer (home, family, nurture, domesticity) and Capricorn (work, career, ambition, focus) always are at odds a little bit on this one.

The actual Full Moon itself is merely a ripple in a week of high tides, but deserves a mention, as we all feel the intensity build up of a full moon from time to time. It will be at 25 degrees Sagittarius and so felt most by this who were born with their Sun near or opposite this (birth dates; 16th to 20th December and 15th to 19th June)

It throws a loose nod to the building square between Jupiter and Neptune which may throw a spiritual caste over us all and help to mitigate stress and tension. Although, so far it seems that Jupiter (excess, expansion, fun and joy) has only been bringing the more damp tendencies of Neptune (transcendence, higher love, soulfulness and ruler of the sea) to the fore; via constant rain.

The energy of the full moon should be quite positive and upbeat overall, and it is followed by Eros moving into Libra which will bring passion, and romance back where pickiness and criticism have been a little too prescient in recent weeks.

Try to let of steam this weekend and enjoy the upbeat, exploratory, joviality of the full moon in Sagittarius, and allow tensions to be released in a good way. It may help to reduce the possibilities of tensions and conflicts later in the week.

Happy Solstice everyone! May it be peaceful, loving and passionate.

Jupiter in Sagittarius - 8th Nov 2018 to 2nd December 2019

At 12:39pm (UK time) on Thursday 8th November Jupiter will move into Sagittarius. The last time Jupiter was in it's home, was 2007, where it was resident for the entire year up to the end of December 2007. Do you remember 2007? There may be similar themes coming up over the next 12 months.

As Jupiter rules Sagittarius it will be felt more powerfully, which can only be a good thing, as it it engenders optimism, good will and positivity, areas which have seemed to be lacking in many of our lives during 2018 so far. Saturn's residency in Capricorn has brought quite a deal of heaviness, even to those to whose personal planets are not directly affected.

This isn't going to change anytime soon unfortunately, as Saturn will remain in situ for a little while yet however despite the fact that it is bringing a sombre tone to proceedings, it is highlighting areas which are outdated and cannot continue to operate as they have in the past. By the time Saturn moves into Aquarius in March 2020 it is fair to say some important political changes will have occurred.

As Sagittarius is a sign which deals with language, travel and culture, there will be some rather interesting emphasis upon these areas in the coming months. Global issues will be in the spotlight and things will, as usual, likely get worse before they get better. Divisions may be more notable and religious contention will be brought into the spotlight once more.

The time that Saturn spend in Sagittarius in recent years, and the issues that came up as a result, will be reconsidered. However, things tend to end on a good note with Jupiter, though known to create excess and expansion wherever it falls, it is a planet which wants to propagate equality and fairness. Although there is an argumentative side to Jupiter, overall judgement is not favoured and the fights created are for peace and the good of humanity.

There will be an upturn in conscientiousness during the next 12 months, the side that is for goodness and equality will start to be backed more avidly. We may even see a better version of politics on our home shores at long last. A great deal of work is needed right now to rectify the damage which has been created in society in the UK (and quite probably many other parts of the world). I have the optimism to believe that Jupiter in Sagittarius will begin those reparations.

To provide a more horoscope style synopsis I have written a little about what to expect for each of the Sun signs during this period running from Thursday 8th November 2018 to Monday 2nd December 2018. Do please note that the write up for your Sun (or star) sign is general, for a reading to find out more about Jupiter in your chart now and when you were born then contact me at: waxlobster@hotmail.com

Sun in Aries,
Jupiter is a compatible planet for you, ruler of fellow fire sign, Sagittarius it embodies all of the traits you would naturally associate with Sagittarius in the chart. Falling in the natural 9th House in your solar chart, Jupiter here is all about travel, exploration, philosophy and beliefs. As an Aries, you not only have the strongest and most vibrant position for the Sun, you also have a natural relationship with all of the planets, so that when they are in their own signs you feel them more strongly than most.

This gives you increased power and this year you will be able to use all of the energy, optimism and 'luck' associated with Jupiter to work in your favour.

Of course 'luck' is what we attract when we are resonating with ourselves and our environment as authentically and as optimistically as possible. This will be a more natural state for you this year Aries. You've had enough of the Scorpio/8th House soul searching and now will have the chance to shine and get out and about more, just as your natural soul energy calls you to.

Sun in Taurus,

If you are a strongly Taurean type you probably won't resonate very easily with Sagittarius as a sign. They can be argumentative, unpredictable and rather flippant for your taste. This will may be an unnerving year for you as a result Taurus, you do like to know where you stand and what to expect and none of this will be quite so clear as you would wish.

With Sagittarius falling as your natural 8th House, you will be digging deeper into your psyche at this time and learning more about your true beliefs and motivations. You may be the kind of Taurus who believes you are a free spirit, and after this year but after this year you will have a far better and richer understanding of what freedom truly is. Sometimes you have to let go of everything to find who you really are, and that can be quite a scary thing to do. Jupiter is upbeat in its manner though and whatever it touches it will expand and uplift, so the learning curve will be easy to yield to, once you've taken the leap of faith required to enjoy this period fully.

Sun in Gemini,

with Jupiter in Sagittarius in your opposite sign, your focus for the next year will be on personal relationship. Fortunately Jupiter brings an uplifting and joyful energy, as well as being a little over zealous and argumentative at times, so the overall experience will be to explore and learn more about yourself as your relate closely with another.

You will attract a positivity in this area of your life, so Geminis not currently involved are likely to meet somebody during this time.

Relationships for this year will help you understand more about what you really believe and assist in you developing a deeper sense of faith and purpose in your life. There will also be a focus on making more time for fun and laughter too though, Jupiter is also the joker and the trickster planet and you share much in common with this more mischievous vibration of this expansive planet.

You may find that you have more time to travel with a partner too, as Jupiter is not only about exploring your inner world, but also rules the desire to witness other ways of life and culture.

Sun in Cancer,

Interestingly Jupiter is exalted (meaning it operates at its best) in Cancer, and so, whilst there may seem to be a little difference between your focus on home and family and the explorative nature of Jupiter, you actually resonate easily with this planet.

During this period Jupiter will be moving through your solar 6th House, casting a focus up on the day to day elements of life. Now, this isn't the most fun or entertaining area of anybody's chart, but on the other hand Jupiter will make it so and, much can be achieved during this time.

The boring bits of life; the housework, the administrative side of things, what you eat and the kind of foods you buy, all of these things come into focus. This is a great year to begin a new, healthier lifestyle; to give up any foods which you know don't suit you, to take up a yoga class to improve your posture and regulate your sleep patterns.

These areas of life can be very enjoyable when approached with zest and enthusiasm and the overall happiness which will be achieved in the long-term will always be retrospectively worthwhile.
Sun in Leo,

As a fellow fire sign you enjoy Jupiter being in it's own sign and this area of your chart is particularly compatible, as Sagittarius is your solar 5th House, the house that is naturally ruled by Leo. This is a time when you can really come out of your shell and shine.

The last 12 months have been a little dull in their focus and your spirits have been lower than usual, this will begin to improve now, as the fun more upbeat side of your nature will start to take centre stage again. There is also a correlation with children when there is an emphasis on this house, so you may find your job, home or family has more of a focus on children at this time.

For Leos who desperately need a 'pick me up' to shake off recent stresses, joining a theatre group, an art or a dance class at this time will have a wonderful overall effect on your spirit. You will also be more attractive to those around you. Enjoy, you were born to shine and now is your chance to really feel like yourself again. Even shy Leos will feel more confident and comfortable in the limelight during the year ahead.

Sun in Virgo,

This year is all about the home for you Virgo, Jupiter will be shining into the area of your chart which deals with your domestic situation and your family. You could well decide to move where you live this year, but it will be your own choice to do so.

You may find that you are more interesting in learning about the history of your family, and spending time with people you have neglected a little in previous years. Home decorating is also possible and some Virgos may even more abroad, with Jupiter being associated with travel and cultural exploration.

For some it may be more about learning and filling in the gaps in your education, there may be areas of study that you have considered for years and not quite had the time or inclination to do so. This is a great time to do some home study, or develop some personal health regimes that you can develop as a routine from home. We all need to work on ourselves and Virgos tend to understand the importance of this more than most, this is a good time to make your home your castle, Virgo.

Sun in Libra,

This will be sociable year for you Libra, as Jupiter in your solar 3rd House gives you the inclination to get out there and talk to the people in your locality. The 3rd House of the chart is about your neighbourhood, environment and how you interact and communicate with it. You may find that you have more interest in getting involved in what's going on around and near you at this time, and will want to have more of a voice.

If you've ever had a desire to become better at public speaking, or singing, this is a great time to develop these attributes, perhaps you've always wanted to learn a language? There is not better time for this than when Jupiter is in the sign of culture, travel and higher learning.

Travelling will be more enjoyable at this time, but the shorter trips are highlighted when the 3rd House is lit up. Perhaps you'll think about moving to a different neighbourhood, or simply develop a more vibrant social scene a little further afield from where you reside.

This is a great time to develop your thoughts and opinions recreationally Libra, Jupiter moving into Sagittarius will be very liberating and uplifting for you.

Sun in Scorpio,

Well, I'm sorry to say that after a year of uplifting Jupiter in your sign you are going to have to get used to life without it again.

That's the bad news, the good news is that this year could prove very helpful financially. Jupiter in your solar 2nd House, does imply more comfortable finances and the ability to make more money in the next 12 or so months.

The 2nd House is also about the physical touch and food, so the inclination to over-indulge could be present at this time too. It's good to look into the kinds of foods which suit your constitution, as getting in touch with what suits your body is what allows you to be more free and easy with your eating habits.

Jupiter will help you understand your physical body better and this is a great time to not only try out different types of food stuffs, but also to take up something more culturally diverse such as yoga, martial arts, reiki etc. Connecting a more diverse cultural practise to your physical routine will really help you thrive this year Scorpio and it will also take you out of your head and help you to think less and live more in the moment.

Sun in Sagittarius,

Finally, your ruling planet is back! It's been 11 or so years since Jupiter was in Sagittarius and it's a wonderful feeling for Sagittarians when your solar 1st House is finally graced by the presence of joyful Jupiter!

This is going to be a great year for you Sagittarius, the world is your oyster once more and you know exactly how to appreciate the help and uplift that Jupiter will be bringing to your life.

Many of you will take a little more time to travel, your energy levels will be great improved at this time. You've not really felt at your best for the last year, so there is a lot that you feel that you have been missing out on that you will now, miraculously have more time and energy to focus upon.

As you are often more of the teacher than the student you are likely to come educational ideas at this time. There will be some of you who are inclined more to study, but the more experienced of you realise how much you have to share and give back to others and this year brings a great opportunity for you to come up with new endeavours in this area.

Enjoy Sagittarius, you've had a rough few years, you deserve this!

Sun in Capricorn,

On the plus side you will feel energised by Jupiter in Sagittarius, it generates more natural energy in its own sign, but this will be strangely introspective year for Capricorns. Jupiter will be in your solar 12th House, and so a lot of what happens may feel like it's very random and unpredictable to you, even when it's very positive.

The 12th House is quite intangible and difficult to 'feel' the best way to get a handle on it, is by developing a regular meditative practise and keeping a dream diary. The subconscious rules the show in this realm and whilst it is just as (usually far more) instrumental in the manifestation process, it is a little more difficult to control and understand.

With Saturn in your sign for another year or so, you have enough in your life to control, or feel that you should be keeping an eye on however, so you could look at this Jupiter transit as a great form of escape from day to day life.

If indeed you do take the time this year to meditate and go within more, you will develop a much closer relationship with yourself, your surroundings and consequently, those who really matter the most to you in your life too.

Sun in Aquarius,

Jupiter will fall in your solar 11th House, which is actually the same house which is naturally ruled by Aquarius in the chart. Consequently, a lot of your focus this year will be on the more Aquarian, innovative and creative side of your nature.

Your natural altruism and desire for equality and fairness in life will be highlighted, and you will most likely become far more involved in supporting the community and local charities. The current trend for environmental concerns and more kindness towards animals will continue to grow in popularity and many Aquarius will be instrumental in developing these concerns further in the public eye.

You may be more inclined to look at causes overseas, than at home, any can factor in at this time and your sway, wherever you focus your attention, will be at its most prolific.

Humour will also become more important, as it breaks down barriers and joins people together. This should be a fun year for you Aquarius, but it will also be industrious and one where you branch out and focus on what matters to you, more than you have for a long time.

Sun in Pisces,

There is a good relationship between Pisces and Jupiter, back in the days before your ruling planet; Neptune was discovered, it was said that you were ruled by Jupiter. Indeed, there is a commonality between your connection with the spiritual truths and Jupiter's affinity with the more earthly manifestation of these.

It's easy for you to feel lost at sea and for those of you who have had the Neptune doubling up on your Pisces planets a little buoyant Jupiter throwing a more vibrant aspect to your planets will be very welcome.

Sagittarius is your solar 10th House, so actually this year will show a lot of support going on for you career-wise. If you have ideas or areas at work which you think you could really develop your knowledge or experience, this is the time to speak up.

Further training could be of great benefit to you this year, or it could be that you already have a skillset which is being overlooked and would bring you a lot more fulfilment.

An entire change in direction will occur for many Pisces, and it will be of great benefit to you whatever it is. Your tendency towards self-doubt is your weakness, if you allow Jupiter to boost your confidence this year, you can achieve so much more than you think. Go for it Pisces!

Forecast; Jan-March 2018 for Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces

Sagittarius Sun (also applies to Sagittarius Rising)
January to March 2018 –

The year began with Mars joining your ruling planet, Jupiter in Scorpio. This had an energising effect, giving you more desire to celebrate than you've probably had for a while, peaking on 7th January.

It has been a strange few months for Sagittarius, writing on the basis of your Sun sign (your own personal chart is likely to differ) your ruling planet, Jupiter has been in your solar 12th House since mid-October. This brings a feeling of being a little 'in the dark' and not so much in control as you would usually like to be. Your dreams have probably been more vivid and prophetic, but your daily life a little less predictable and congenial. I can only recommend using this time, until Jupiter moves into Sagittarius in November, to learn to meditate and co-ordinate your life using your intuition, more than you would usually be comfortable to do.  Life is all about adapting and learning new ways to function.

For a comparative you can always look back 12 years, Jupiter takes a year to move through each sign, so you will experience trends in 12 year cycles. Often retrospective knowledge of the self, is far more helpful than anything anybody else can provide for you.

At the end of December Saturn moved out of your sign (finally) and into Capricorn, where it will remain for the next 2.5 years. Whilst this is probably a great relief in some respects, there is also the feeling of, “what now?” With the pressure removed and less need to work extra hard, you will still be adjusting to having more time. If you can set time aside to indulge more in the senses; appreciating taste, touch, feel, go for a massage now and again, savour some of your favourite foods and wines, then this January will be a lovely time for you.

There may be some financial concerns which go along with this switch in focus. Rather than worrying, putting more definitive financial plans in order would be a better use of this time. The New Moon on 17th January is a good time to consider this in more detail' so that you have a set plan, rather than a period of insecurity which Saturn is in Capricorn.

On 31st January the first eclipse of the year is a lunar one (equal to a full Moon) and will fall in Leo. This is the part of your chart which looks at higher learning, philosophical and religious concerns, global issues and travel. Eclipses are also about endings and letting go, so perhaps you will be revising some of your long-held opinions at this time, or begin to lose faith in something that you've believed in a little too easily and lightly.

As Mars will already be in Sagittarius from 27th January through to 18th March you will be feeling livelier, focused and that indomitable positive life force that Sagittarius is best known for, will once again be apparent.

With Mercury and Venus moving alongside one another in Aquarius for the first half of February, all feels good with the locals and congeniality should reign during this time. The partial solar Eclipse on 15th February could portent some great social gatherings, of neighbours and friends. It could be a leaving party, as eclipses do often signify endings, but there will be a good overall feeling.

On 2nd March there will be a full Moon in Virgo, and this will put an emphasis on career issues. Anything that's been neglected or half done work-wise will need to have extra care and attention at this time. It's not a problem, Mars will give you the get up and go to achieve whatever you need to.

Through to mid-March you will be wanting to get out and about more. Through the 2nd half of February there was more of a desire to stay home, conserve finances and indulge in a few intellectual pursuits. From mid-late March that creative and expressive side of you will be coming to the fore again. As Venus links up with Uranus the planet of change, inventiveness, and revolution in the most expressive and romantic part of your chart, single Sagittarians are likely to meet very exciting and interesting potentials mates; whereas settled Sagittarians will want to be more dramatic, creative and fun loving personally. March will be an enjoyable month for you Sagittarius, it's fine to take some time to relax (now) before the fun starts!

Capricorn Sun (also applies to Capricorn Rising)
January to March 2018 –

This year has begun on quite a social note for Capricorns, not know for your gregariousness generally; with Mars and Jupiter hanging out together in the Scorpio you will have probably had a fair few invitations to begin your year.

Working from the Sun sign only (your personal chart will display different houses most likely) Scorpio features as your 11th House which is about friends, community, conservation and environmental concerns. Jupiter will continue to emphasise this part of your chart until it moves into Sagittarius, come October 2018.

In late December Saturn, your ruler, moved into Capricorn and will remain in situ for another 2.5 years approximately. This is big news, as Saturn rules all that is constructive, worked for, planned and co-ordinated. There will be a knock on effect upon everybody; as hard work, conservative values (is that an oxymoron?) and planning become a prime focus. Of course these are all qualities you embody and know how to moderate in equal doses.

Those of you born in early Capricorn (up to the end of December) will be feeling Saturn transiting your Sun through the early part of 2018. Accustomed as you are to the qualities of Saturn, it still can bring a fair amount of pressure with it when it reaches your Sun. It may seem that you have to work twice as hard to reach the same achievements, like running up a hill, exertion will be doubled. Overall we do tend to reap the rewards of Saturn, after the event, so even if it seems you are being pushed by others and not appreciated try not to worry too much about that. Put the effort in, focus on the tasks in hand and rewards and recognition will follow...eventually.

The new Moon in your sign on 17th January is at 28 Capricorn and is throwing a square to chaotic Uranus. Those of you born in the last 6 days of Capricorn (14th to 21st January) will be currently experiencing the chaos and excitement of Uranus square your Sun, just as you did at the end of 2017. Make the most of it, whilst Uranus may not be a welcome spanner in the works to a grounded Capricorn, it does enhance ideas, creativity and coincidence. Most of the great successful business people give a nod to intuition and gut feeling; it's often the added magic which creates the notable recognition in life.  A great idea plus hard work = a decent level of success, but add in a little intuition and you have recipe for true success.

Sparks of genius will never come in the guise of that which we can control or predict. Ideas which come to you around the time of this new Moon should be noted and considered.

On 31st January the first of this years' eclipse takes place as a lunar one in Leo. This may well call you to let go of something or someone to whom you've become rather unnaturally attached. The solar 8th House shows an area of your life where you give yourself away to others, whether through sexual relationship, shared finances, or through the trust and sacrifice required by compromise in a relationship. Perhaps you will need to make another sacrifice at this time, or learn more about how transient and changeable life really is.  It can be all too easy to form attachments in life, but fear of losing something or someone does not indicate value or purpose.

Pluto has been in your sign for a while and for those of you born between 8th to 13th January will be noticing a lot of personal changes in your life. Depending upon how and where your Sun falls in your chart, there will be some very intense times of self awareness, for better and for worse. This is not an easy time by any means, but it's helping you to recognise who you really and how powerful you can actually be. Of course all false ideas of yourself may be lost in this process and that can be tough.

In early February it would be a good time to take a little time out, go to a spa, take a short trip away. Finances look okay and with Saturn in Capricorn demanding more focus from you, time out is ever important to your overall health, especially around 15th February when the partial solar eclipses occurs in Aquarius.

You may be feeling a little burned out still in March and until Mars moves into your sign on 18th March, it is a good idea to take it easy and try to get as much down time outside of your work hours as you can. The new Moon proceeding Mars' ingress into your sign on 17th March will begin a livelier more sociable period for you. Fun times with friends will be appreciated and overall mental energy will be more upbeat and expressive.

Mercury moves into retrograde motion on 23rd March, so communication will be less clear from this point and niggles in the home, computers and transport are far more likely. Try to be patient, you will be powerful as Mars moves up to reach Saturn in Capricorn but you may also be scary and rather difficult to please. Own your power, but do remember to be gentle!

{if you would like to know how Saturn and/or Pluto conjunct your Sun is and has been affecting you, contact me at: waxlobster@hotmail.com}

Aquarius Sun (also applies to Aquarius Rising)
January to March 2018 –

The year began with Mars and Jupiter in Scorpio edging closer to one another and connecting exactly on 7th January.  For Aquarius this is the solar 10th House (note that this will likely be a different place and emphasis in your personal chart) highlighting ones' social status, career direction and how we generally present ourselves in the world at large. As Mars and Jupiter are both energetic fire planets, both bring ideas, gravitas and inspirations for how you would like to make waves in the world at large this year. Staring as it did amidst a fresh wave of energy, for once, this new year actually felt like the beginning of a year.

The first new Moon of the month will be on 17th January, falling in the dark side of your solar chart, being as it is, in the last few degrees before the Sun moves into Aquarius. Do you have unfinished business, are there loose ends to tie up before your solar new year begins?  Background work may be required at this time, you don't want to begin the year with mental or physical clutter.

The Lunar Eclipse on 31st January may bring some more clues, as it brings partnerships and how we interrelate with those closest to us into the focus. Are you fully appreciated for who you truly are Aquarius? One of the most difficult aspects of being Aquarius, is that you are loathe to speak up and state your own needs and wants. This can be particularly troublesome in partnerships and is often the reason that Aquarians are regarded as aloof and distant. Actually it is because you need time to regenerate and focus upon yourself again, in a world of people making demands upon your time, thoughts, energy and good nature. It's okay to let go of those who don't fully respect you, you won't even miss them. It's just very difficult to tell them, I know.

Juno the asteroid of commitment and long-term love, will be in Aquarius for all of January and February and there will be thoughts about long-term relationships and how best to work with them. Aquarius is not a very romantic or needy sign, but it's actually on of the most faithful and loyal once it commits, so it doesn't ever do so lightly. The sign (in your full personal chart) that Juno falls in, tells more about what you need to feel committed to another and how trust can be built enough for you to allow another person into your emotional world. This will form a backdrop of your Jan-Feb experience.

Early February starts with a lovely set up of Sun, Mercury and Venus all happily moving through your sign and bringing upbeat energy and conviviality into the mix. Mars in compatible Sagittarius will be adding it's own explorations and liveliness; as a result your social life should be quite upbeat and fun. For once this year will provide suitable celebratory conditions to fully enjoy your solar return!

Uranus is still in Aries and for late Aquarians; sending a neat sextile to your Sun. Enjoy it, it will never be in this part of your chart again, in your lifetime! Your ruling planet of chaos and rebellion is a little more explosive and impatient in Aries, but it does bring initiative and great enthusiasm to ideas. It won't be quite so dynamic when it moves into Taurus in May, so if you need to be inventive and make sure you fully scope out your latest inventions, try to do so during the early part of the year. Planning will be possible with Uranus in Taurus, but ideas will be less dynamic and spontaneous.

Your annual new Moon will fall on 15th February, and as always, this will herald the Chinese New Year. It will also be a partial solar eclipse, so whilst making a wish and beginning a new project is just as (even more) important, there be a need to sacrifice a little something in order to do so. Eclipses are always about endings and letting go of something, even the solar ones. This is time to plan to be, do, or express a part of yourself that you have been neglecting for a long time, but you may need to give up some less useful habit(s) as a result. Never take the easy route, it's only the brave path which leads to wonderful discoveries. The road less travelled always bears the undiscovered fruits and rewards.

Venus in Pisces from 19th February will take you out of the spotlight and put a consideration towards looking after yourself and your finances a little more. You've probably been attracting a lot of attention between late January and mid-February and may be quite happy to be able to sink back into the background and spend a little more time indulging in the senses. Taste, smell and touch can be very intoxicating and enjoyable. When the new Moon in Pisces follows on 17th March this emphasis will be embellished and enhanced once more.

In the meantime, March will be a relaxed month. Communications with others are good, ideas are flowing. Venus is moving closer to meeting up with ruler, Uranus towards the end of the month and bringing thoughts to overseas travel, higher learning and even whether or not teaching is something to be considered at some point in the future (for those who are already teachers, perhaps you will be considering broadening your subject base or refining an area of your knowledge).

Mercury will move into retrograde motion on 23rd March and communications will be less clear and effective at this point. Often Mercury retrograde helps us to consider other methods of transport, and forms of communication and interaction with others. Rather than being frustrated by that which isn't working, Aquarius will often be the first to see the validity in using methods which are less relied upon. Maybe it's a good time to hand write a letter to somebody, or spend a little more time learning about body language and all of the other layers of interaction that go on. How do animals communicate with us and each other?

Pisces Sun (also applies to Pisces Rising)
January to March 2018 –

You'll feel like you want to be far away from civilisation at the beginning of 2018, regardless that everybody around you is a more genuinely upbeat frame of mind, you will still wish you were trekking through the Amazonian jungles, or swimming with turtles in a tropical sea.

Chances are though, the trips will be confined to your own imaginative inner world and you will left to contend with the actual community you live in and the friends that you share all that with.

Working with Pisces Sun and so using solar houses (most personal charts will differ from this) the transgression of Saturn from Sagittarius to Capricorn in late December has removed a little bit of pressure for you Pisces. Focusing as it was on your career, status, standing in the world and in some cases simply how you, if a parent, are viewed by your children. Now your social groups, community issues, conservation and to some extent charitable organisations are where you will need to express your focus. Pisces usually cares deeply about conserving nature and the environment, along with the protection of humans and other animals. Saturn in this solar house assist you in fitting your ideals into a more constructive plan now and for the next 2.5 years!

Kicking off, so to speak with a new Moon in Capricorn on 17th January, if you do wish to dedicate a portion of your focus towards some community or charitable concerns, then this is a great day to set the wheels in motion and make a declaration. (The Universe will pay heed)

The first of 2018's eclipses occurs on 31st January, as a full Moon in Leo. A area of your chart associated with domestic and day to day concerns, with a sign not so well suited to the task.  You may feel like making a grandiose gesture towards refining your home, changing your diet or better planning your finances. An Eclipse is not a typical full Moon however and often portends endings alongside the energetic peak associated with the average full Moon. There may be a sense of loss felt at this time, whether for something actual, or simply a nostalgic metaphysical notion. As you know Pisces, perception is the real truth and if you can experience it through the senses and feelings, it doesn't matter whether it is deemed to 'exist', or can be tangibly proven. It is still real, if you experience it.  That is enough truth.

February brings with it a strong Aquarius spirit, not just from the Sun but also Mercury, Venus and Juno are present there. As your solar 12th House, this marks a retreat time for you. As you are not necessarily the most sociable sign and quite often more comfortable in your dream world than that place other people call home, this isn't entirely unwelcome and the new Moon on 15th February may be great for visually based ideas, creative expansion and vivid dreams. If you don't already partake, this would be a good time to take up meditation or any kind of practise which involves momentary prescience and clear mindedness.

With Venus and Mercury happily floating through Pisces at the end of February and slowly meeting up in early March you should feel quite a positive burst of energy at the full Moon on 2nd March. The closer this is to your birthday, the more it will be felt, and also always it's a great time to start something new, something creatively fulfilling would be best for you right now Pisces.

Pisces whose birthdays are between 1st to 5th March will even more aware of the intoxicating creative, but slightly spaced out presence of Neptune's proximity to your Sun. As it is your ruler you are more than willing to welcome the creativity enhancement which a Neptune transit portends, the real issue is to try to keep a foot in the practical world too. To not lose sight of what is required for everyday life and existence.

Late Pisceans have been dealing with Chiron for a while and will have felt more emotional than creative of late. Chiron can bring up a lot of sorrow and painful issues and the new Moon in 17th March will exacerbate these emotional experiences. The aftermath of feeling the vulnerability of Chiron is increased kindness, compassion and desire to heal the self and others also. It's what makes humanity wonderful and Chiron rules our relationship with animals, which is why are companions are so important when we feel that the 'real' world is a pit of snakes writhing in its own insurmountable selfishness.

The month will end with a Mercury retrograde beginning on 23rd March bringing misunderstandings and fogginess to those who like everything to be perfectly planned and co-ordinated at all times (don't laugh, I know this isn't you!).  The Sun when it moves into Aries will bring some tension to the building conjunction between Mars and Saturn in Capricorn (culminating at the end of the month). This will add to the frustrations of those who like to be in control. Sit back and be your gentle intuitive self Pisces, you will be the solace in the storm!

New Moon in Sagittarius ~Tuesday 29th November ~12:18pm (UK time)

This new Moon at 7º42 Sagittarius links back into the theme that 2016 has emphasised so well of, delusions and how they manifest.

As mentioned in so many recent articles, there been a real push/pull between the rather incompatible planets of Saturn and Neptune for the last year or so. Where Saturn stands for all that structured, planned, focussed, and responsible, Neptune is about dreams, imagination and all that flows and cannot be grasped. With these two being so prominent this year, there has been a lot of unexpected twists and turns; lies and deception; creative highs, followed by crushing confinements. The only way to understand and work with Saturn is to assess ones place in life and whether the actions you take in the physically structured world are in keeping with what you wish to achieve. Whereas with Neptune clarity can only exist on a deeper, amorphous, inner level. If indeed clarity is indeed possible for more than a snapshot at a time, but therein lies the beauty. Where Saturn is all about planning, Neptune can only be found in the moment and grasped in a lingering assimilation of sensory perception (extra or ordinarily speaking).

This story which has created much of the confusion and turmoil of 2016, is changing, Saturn and Neptune are no long in speaking distance in an astrological sense. However, humans have a tendency to perpetuate and replay what they fear or dislike the most. Where a cat can find a spot of sunlight and dissolve into existential bliss, a human being, if they even stop to appreciate the spot, will still stage their soliloquy sifting through imaginary scenarios, of seemingly unsolvable conundrums – that have not even happened yet!

So, this New Moon which falls so close to the location of Saturn at the last point in its square to Neptune, and re-triggers lingering Neptune, is about stepping into a new paradigm; walking away from unwanted delusions and taking a chance to live the dream.

Sometimes I come across articles which try to surmise what they assess to be 'human nature', based upon studies of previous attitudes and behaviour. My view is the opposite; live as if you are a new species, create your own version of reality. It amazes me that psychological teaching is still based upon the pent up projections of Sigmund Freud, who, in fact, did live in a society which was based upon suppression of natural desires (and so his observations did have contextual validity when written). Obviously, there are limitations to what humans are and can be, and there are basic needs which seem to resonate within us all; like the need for love, acceptance, connectivity and community. What I don't believe is our nature is 'greed', 'self-sabotage', 'competition', 'judgement' 'desire for power'. Sure these are all behaviours which have been observed in humans for centuries and they have become major players in the structure of society as we know it. They are learned environmental responses however, and anything which can be learned, can be unlearned. Our education system is based upon the worst of human history, and encourage the kids to prepare their natures to interact with this. I read a lovely quote last week, something like; “don't teach your children to be the kind of people who can deal with the harshness of society, teach them to be sort of the people who will change this.”

Magic allows for more magic. In a scientific world belief in the intangible is frowned up; if there is no evidence or proof then it cannot, and never will exist. These same people who recognise the beauty of genius' like Einstein, fear new ideas and you can be sure they never can see the irony in this! Neptune is all about allowing for magic to manifest, in an unmeasured, non-material and sometimes intangible way. Neptune is the dandelion clock; appearing from nowhere with it's ephemeral blossoms, flying through the air, dissipating, leaving behind the paling pin cushion, framed with brachts like a fading Roman sun god. Magic and beauty are everywhere in immeasurable, unquantifiable bursts of nature. One should never forget the romance of nature, or become so removed that it no longer serves as an inspiration.

A lot of fellow astrologers observe Neptune's dark side to about deception and lies. It's something to be acknowledged, as it most certainly can be the case. The point here is to never expect another to be your source of inspiration, there has to be a deeper connection to all that is for Neptune to be enjoyed. If the fairytales that Neptune so joyfully depicts start to gather cast members, or definitives, then the lower side of Neptune becomes inevitable. Where there is expectation there is disappointment, and where somebody is pressured to be or act in any way, they rebel and break free. This is no ivory tower, the walls are that of a waterfall; differing in each second, with varying hues and refraction. We are drawn to the water walls for their beauty and endless fascination, no structure can exist in such a place and it is only perception which allows for continued appreciation.

The butterfly will die in a closed fist.

Saturn has moved forward a little now and makes an harmonious aspect with the planet of revolution and freedom; Uranus. Different as they are, they do have a negotiating term and in many ways work well together. Uranus only wants to destroy that which is unjust, and Saturn whilst it cares less about fairness and more about propriety, is often willing to work with Uranus in this regard. A spark of Uranus-style inventive genius can only be turned into something real with the help of Saturn. So these next two weeks are a good time to develop great ideas, or to add a little creativity to the mundane. As Mars moves through Aquarius, it will reach the midpoint also and bring energy, vitality and enthusiasm wherever there is insightful, intelligent thought. If you have a great idea, patent it, or look at working at the foundations required to develop it.

In many ways this is a dispassionate, time of imagination and escapism, mixed with ideas and industriousness. The Venus-Pluto conjunction has moved on, and so has the heavy energy which pervaded as a result.

New Moons are always a great time to start something new, if you choose to do so with this one, then allow the inspiration of all that is inexplicable be the root of all that transpires for you this week.

If you want to a little inspiration and new moon enthusiasm from me, then I can do you a little New Moon reading and talk about what's coming for you in 2017. Starting from £20 for one question, or £50 for three questions focussing on particularly areas of your life.

 Peace and love to all~~~~

New Moon at 8'15° Libra, Saturday 1st October ~~1:11am (UK time)

The New Moon in Libra will take place at 1:11am on 1st October; satiating fans of binary and those who deem series’ of 1s to be fortuitous.  Indeed, this New Moon does bring a ‘breath of fresh air’ kind of feeling with it.

During the two weeks which have elapsed since the recent lunar eclipse, many positive astrological changes have occurred.  Mercury and Pluto are no longer retrograde and bring with their direct motion, the feeling of possibility and accomplishment; clearer communications, more open expression passion and drive and the ability to glean clarity after a rather confusing Spring/Summer 2016.

Jupiter has also moved into Libra and brings with it a sense of possibility and compromise, it will remain here until November 2017 and so anybody born in the sign of Libra, or with planets here will feel the uplift when Jupiter reaches them.  Jupiter is given more of its explorative and optimistic scope in fair, peace-loving Libra and people will be more inclined to compromise and appease one another for the next year.  Having experienced a year of Jupiter in more discerning and critical Virgo, I think this easier energy will bring relief to most of us.

 Another positive change is that Mars is now in Capricorn; having had a 3 month retrograde period during late Spring/Summer 2016.  Mars had spent an inexorably long period of time in Sagittarius, moving back and forth, and only taking a little sojourn into Scorpio during May and June.  Mars energy is splayed and distracted when in Sagittarius; seeking experience and exploration but accomplishing little in the more constructive sense.

With Mars now in Capricorn (as of last Tuesday 27th September) where it is said to be exalted, the energy and drive of Mars is refined and directive, in a sign which is concerned largely with implementing energy in a resourceful and well-planned way.  We’ll all have our most decisive, goaty, sure-stepping capabilities at the forefront during the next 6 weeks.

The New Moon itself takes place at 8’15°  Libra and is less than 4° from Jupiter, allowing it to encapsulate all of the above, along with the exuberant conviviality that we naturally associate with the Jupiterian energy.  It sends a week sextile (60° angle to Saturn), along with quincunx (150° angle) to Neptune, bringing this Saturn-Neptune square briefly into focus again, as they finally begin to move in their separate ways.

This Saturn-Neptune square has been a profoundly dominant feature since November 2015 and has caused a great deal of confusion, dishonesty and misinformation.  This alone has been the main perpetrator behind the political upheavals and inappropriacies of the previous year, with Mars’ retrograde ensuring that clarity be kept well below the surface throughout the majority of the year.

This New Moon gives a nudge to these two, as if to say, “what have you learned,” and to ask us to review our lives over the previous months and consider whether we have made any mistakes we can learn from.  For those of you with planets around 9° of the mutable signs; Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, this aspect’s dissipation will be a great relief!

There will be a period from 10th to 14th October where this aspect is triggered once more, by Mars and any industrious efforts we’re making at this time will be thwarted and tested.  This week is not a good week to begin any new projects and will lead to a very powerful Full Moon, which I will write about closer to the time.

This really does promise to be a great Autumn/Winter and so much of what has made 2016 a complicated and stressful year for so many, will begin to come right.  For those who have sailed through 2016 easily, things will probably improve further.

Saturn picks up a good deal of pace going forwards so those with mid-Sagittarius planets will feel the effects of this and likely be either more serious, or feel a little pressure to achieve or put more effort into things (which will depend upon the house in our chart this falls in).

October will overall be a grounding month and whilst there will be no instance results, but things will start to fall into place and make more sense again.  This is a New Moon to celebrate, falling; as it does in the middle of the weekend and providing the perfect opportunity to spend some time doing things you enjoy, without the need for worries or concerns.

This is also the beginning of a more creative time and Venus-ruled Libra will enhance the arts and encourage us to be more expressive with our aesthetic sensibility, musical or artists sides.  Also, for the first time in a while the conditions are good for romance and beginning new relationships.  Traditionally New Moons are a great time to meet somebody, begin a relationship, fall in love, but with 2016 being filled with retrogrades and dominated by a confusing, energy-sapping Saturn-Neptune square; this has not been the case for a while.  In fact the reverse has been occurring, as people at their most disgruntled have been inclined to dissolve relationships which require time and effort they don't feel they have the resource for.

For those of you who would like to know a little more about your direction in life, or when and how your love life is likely to improve, I can now offer astrology and tarot readings via Skype; with prices starting at £20.  I often use tarot to answer questions and astrology to provide detailed insights on timings and changes in life.

Face-to-face readings are also available for locally based folks. ♥

Wishing you all a healthy, happy, uplifting and healing New Moon weekend.

New Moon at 21:44 at 10° Leo – What you resist persists

This new Moon, meeting up with the Sun in fiery Leo tilts the balance of planets into the fire signs. With the Moon making its impact; by joining up with the Sun, Venus continues her sojourn further into the sign at; 22° Leo. The timing of this new Moon, also coincides Mars’ recent return to Sagittarius – also on Tuesday 2nd August, after its long backwards dip into Scorpio. As mentioned in previous articles, Mars was retrograde from 18th April 2016 until 30th June 2016. It had reached 8° Sagittarius at the time of its retrograde and so will still be in the so called ‘shadow of the retrograde until it returns to that point on 22nd August. Still, with Mars back in Sagittarius, energies are higher and anything which has been moving slowly in your life over the last few months will start to gather momentum again.

Saturn is also in Sagittarius, interestingly sitting at 9° very close to the retrograde point for the whole of the month of August as it slows down, ready to turn to forward motion itself. If you have any planets around 8-9° Sagittarius, these are significantly highlighted, once again (just as they were in April). For those of you born around 30th November, that would be the position of your Sun at birth, so most likely this has been a very low energy year for you so far. Do look at what comes up in August in this case, you will learn far more from observing other areas of your life which come to the fore. There is no need to fight against what should be, if you’re tired then rest. Rather than be frustrated look at what IS working for you and embrace it.

In the new Moon chart Neptune sits angularly on the ascendant throwing quite a dampener on the usually energetic Sun-Moon conjunction in Leo. Confusion is the theme of this new Moon, this is not a time to begin something constructive or to make a wish. Neptune always brings a deeper, spiritual and emotional tint to whatever it connects. It is linked to confusion and deception, because we live in a world where facts and figures are valued more highly than creativity, but really Neptune is about all that is elevated and of a higher frequency.

There is a bit of a conflict of interest however, as the Sun-Moon in Leo fall in the detail oriented 6th House implying that facts and figures at this time may well be obfuscated and unavailable. As always, if flowing with the cycles choosing to allow a more creative approach to what is usually mundane will work incredibly well at this time.

I personally postponed the tidying and plant repotting that I need to do to coincide with the new moon and allow new energy to flow more freely around my space. Feng Shui is very important to procure new energy and allow change to occur, and this new Moon favours energetically enhancing ones’ personal space. Whilst many of the more constructive parts of our lives may not be easy to navigate at this time, there is a great deal of cleansing energy which can be worked with and utilized at this time.

A bit of a clean, a move around, to bring new kinds of energy into stagnant areas of your life will work well at this time. This isn’t a time for constructive thought and there won’t be a feeling of great action and celebration in the usual new Moon in Leo sense. Allow action to take place where it is needed, let go of anything which doesn’t seem to be flowing at this time and this can be a very positive new Moon.

August is quite a static month as we wait for Mars to reach as far in Sagittarius and Saturn sits tight awaiting Mars to surge past on 24th August. After which things will begin moving so quickly it will be a very exciting an eventful Autumn.

Enjoy the rest, don’t fight the forces of nature and this can be a tranquil, uplifting and inspiring new Moon time.

Full Moon at 29’32 Sagittarius ~Monday 20th June 2016 ~ setting standards

It’s always interesting to see a Full or a New Moon within the last degree of a sign. It means that it’s the second Full or New Moon in this sign in a month, which implies ‘unfinished business’ or a reiteration of a theme. In this case the ‘theme’ is Sagittarius; the sign of optimism, considered opinion, exploration, religion, higher education, cultural awareness and travel. This centaur is more interested in looking to the source of a subject, than transmitting information, it wants to know; why, how and where before considering a debate upon a topic.

When you consider the situation in the UK at present; the appopriacy of a second Full Moon in Sagittarius becomes apparent. Here we are at the pinnacle of a possibly portentous change that could affect the economy and fortunes of not only this generation but the next, and so many are willing to vote flippantly on the basis of visceral propaganda thrust so transparently by the media campaigns.

Welcome to the 21st century. For those who are reading this outside of Europe, I refer to the impending vote that UK citizens are about to make upon whether to remain a part of the EU or exit.

As the Full Moon in Sagittarius suggests; there is a strong emphasis upon cultural diversity, immigration laws and religious dogma in the political debate. Jupiter; the ruler of Sagittarius, sits on the Ascendant of this chart, further embellishing this superficial stance being used as a spurious sway tactic. Interestingly though, is the accompaniment of the North Node bringing destiny to the picture. Is it the destiny of the UK to make a flippant and unconsidered decision by appealing to the masses who are most easily influenced? Does Mercury (the thought planet), on the MC (the bigger picture) in Gemini (which rules the media) point to choices made on the basis of media?

I think it will be a close call, looking at the angles of this chart. I am glad to say that Saturn at the IC (the home and in this context – Country) with its restrictive and repressive conscientiousness, is forming a close opposition to Mercury in this chart. This restraint; I believe, will be just enough to release us from a rash decision which will leave the UK floating alone, with its nostalgic superiority complex stubbornly held onto as it sinks deeper into the future of the modern world.

No, it seems that by a small majority we will stay in position. Ridiculed by many, hostilely viewed by others, but intact – so to speak, for now.

So to look at the backdrop of this breakdown of civility in the land of the ‘stiff upper lip’ the whole scenario is represented by the ongoing Saturn-Neptune Square.

Of course everywhere is affected equally by this aspect, the outcomes and manifestations will vary greatly but the energy creates the feeling of a tousle between all that one values as safe, structured, reliable and orderly (Saturn) and that which is ephemeral, aspirational, creative and soulful (Neptune). These are probably the two least compatible planets as one stands for all that is tangible (Saturn) and that is (intangible) Neptune. They couldn't be more different, and when they form an aspect which creates tension we feel we are vacillating wildly between these two opposing concepts. All that we can usually control and predict (Saturn – Saturn, or Kronos also rules time) is suddenly unreliable; all that we are moved by and use for escapism (Neptune) is encumbered and blocked.

It's a complex and uncomfortable aspect for which the exact timings are; 26th November 2015 (at 7º Sagittarius and Pisces), 17th June 2016 (today – at 10º Sagittarius and Pisces) and finally on 10th September 2016 ( 12º Sagittarius and Pisces). Those of you born between 26th February and 3rd March or 27th November and 2nd December will feel this most strongly. Or if you have planets between these degrees being aspected, you will also be more affected than most.

Ultimately we can all feel the uncomfortable tension in the air however. Usually one would turn to optimistic and hedonistic Jupiter for respite and freedom but, as mentioned earlier; Jupiter is also in the fray and is blocked and confined by the conflicting energies of these two astrological heavyweights. There is no escape. We have to look at who we really are, and who we actually want to be at this time and decide whether we are working towards who we most choose to be, or not. This is a time of deep and often uncomfortable truths.

What choices are you going to make?

As an addendum; may I also express my great sorrow for the shooting of Jo Cox yesterday; cruelly shot in a fit of insanity yesterday in broad daylight. She was clearly a loving, kind and forward thinking lady and I wish to send some reiki and love to her family at this terrible time.

*** For fellow astrologers – a really interesting note about the EU formation chart (25th March 1957, 18:30 Rome, Italy) and that of the referendum vote on 23rd June 2016 is; 1. The Moon is the same place; at 2° Aquarius, 2. Jupiter is coming up to its Virgo placement, 3. There is a Saturn return also! Also in the EU chart there is almost a star of David – missing a point only at 4° Sagittarius, which tells me this is a significant transit position and that Saturn transiting here for February to April and during November 2015 is intrinsic to this set up (since the announcement of the act and the ratification where in May 2015 and December 2015 respectively, this informs me the information release was delayed by a month on each occasion.)

In tribute to Jonathan Cainer ~ 18th Dec 1957 to 2nd May 2016

I’m very sad to hear that Mr Jonathan Cainer has left the earth plane so early.  He was a huge influence and inspiration to me when I was first learning astrology and it felt right that I acknowledge that here and to tell this magical story which changed my life path very clearly

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a child I knew I would learn astrology.  When I started school I was fascinated by those whose dates of birth were the closest.  I was convinced as a small child that this meant we’d come into the world with something similar.  I didn’t know the word astrology, or anything about the planets at this point but I remember being very happy when we first learned the names and positions of the planets when I was around 6 or 7 years old.
When I was around 12 years old I bought one of those books which touched lightly upon most of those subjects which are grouped together.  There was a little about feng shui, the I Ching, tasseography, oneiromancy, palmistry, shamanism and an overview of the astrological signs and the meaning of the houses.  I remember glancing over astrology and thinking, “not yet,” and reading about every other subject.  I was fairly content with dealing superficially with the other topics I suppose.
As a teenager I would stop by the shops and read the horoscopes with my friend, I often referred to a little Collins pocket book that I had for when we wanted to know a little more about the signs.  Needless to say by the time I began to study astrology as a subject I’d assimilated it for years and had a very good understanding of the Sun signs and the concepts and qualities associated with each.
I became a fan of Jonathan Cainer horoscopes as soon as I saw them.  In my opinion they were superior to all the others I’d come across and had a depth, empathy and spiritual element which I’d always been seeking.  It became a ‘thing’ and I would look forward to reading the weekly scopes and read them out to my friends when they were published of a weekend.
At this point I lived in a shared house with a friend called Nick who often dropped by at weekends.  He had no time for astrology and so I made a concerted effort to tease him by reading his horoscopes aloud each week.  As so many people I’ve met, he always paid avid attention when I did so but over time it became a standard joke between us too.  He declared that I was ‘obsessed’ with Jonathan Cainer and on cue I got hold of a book Jonathan had written about astrology and started to read about the Moon signs and Venus and Mars signs.
Around this time Nick was going to a lot of festivals over the Summer in his camper van and on arrival he’d set up his huge yellow and red circus tent and make it festival feature.  I’m not sure he was ever paid or thanked for doing this.  Nick didn’t care much for money, he lived his own life, in his own way and things just worked out.  He was loud, brash, an ex-cabaret star who had met many famous people over the years and most of all he was an exceedingly talented trombonist and I suppose this was probably how he made his living.
Early Autumn one time Nick returned from a festival, as always on a very upbeat enthusiastic note and with many stories to tell.  I was happy to sit down with a cup of tea and listen.  On this occasion however, he appeared a little sheepish and less inclined to regale me with tales.  He sat down and said, “You won’t guess who I met?”  Of course I proceed to list the most unlikely people that I could come up with; I didn’t confine my annoying traits to merely reading horoscopes.  Even I wasn’t expecting what came next though.
Nick had arrived at one of his festivals late at night as usual, and got talking to a guy camped next to him as normal also.  At the time he had this idea to build a pyramidal tent and technicalities of how to build it were his main topic of conversation.  It turns out the guy parked next to him had a great deal more patience than I, and also a lot more money; some of which he offered to invest in the creation of this complicated tent construction.  It was then that he told me that this new business partner / friend was Jonathan Cainer.  I couldn’t stop laughing.  I was a genuine fan of his work, very keen to meet him and suddenly he was catapulted into my world.  Nick wasn’t planning on introducing us, in fact quite the reverse, he still regarded me as ‘obsessed’ and all I’d done was play up to this for my own entertainment.
A couple of months later Nick was in talks with Jonathan and Jon was still being exceedingly patient – bearing in mind he wasn’t an engineer, a fabric salesman, a metal worker, or a tent salesmen, he had no reason to get so involved in the logistics of this tent design.  He did though and when Nick told him he’d made a little prototype of his design Jon invited him up to Yorkshire to show him in person.  There was one catch though; Jon was clear that Nick needed to bring somebody with him and whilst Nick was convinced I would be an absolute embarrassment with him he also knew there was nobody else who would make a 6 hour round trip to listen to him talking about tents.  He had no choice but to invite me.  Again, I couldn’t stop laughing!!
And that is the story of how I came to spend a weekend at Jonathan Cainer’s house!  The weekend itself was unremarkable compared to the story. Jon was a truly lovely man, a gracious house and made us feel absolutely at home.  He was a fellow vegetarian and so, soon after arrival we were treated to a fabulous healthy meal with lots of ‘help yourself components’ and a large table around which his large and friendly family was sat.  At the time he was making some professional decisions about the direction of his career and so after dinner everyone sat and discussed it.  Equally.  Mine and Nick’s views were invited as much as his youngest children who were children and his partner.  It was true democracy and the idyll of a warm, happy, loving family home.
The next day he showed us some footage of the Maharishi who was a lovely little prophet-time man from India who Jon would watch on a distant TV channel and visit in person from time to time.  The Maharishi gave me a solar plexus warmth and the feeling of laughter bubbling from within me, such was the joy emanating from him – even via the hazy satellite connection.  That room was a heaven of sorts for me also, it housed Tudor style carved cabinets, sumptuous big comfortable chairs and sofas and most importantly had congas, a piano, guitars, and a drum kit set up in the corner, all amidst large wooden carved elephants which had been carted back from India.  Jon explained that he loved music but for him it was recreational, whereas his brother Daniel had made a decent name for himself in the music world.
On the evening we popped down to a local pub, which was a walk down a completely dark, unlit country lane from the field ensconced house we were staying.  All I remember about that night was that the stars in the sky were the brightest I’d ever seen them before (or since) and I was overwhelmed by the truth that this whole scenario was a very clear message to me that I, also, was meant to be an astrologer.
We returned to Birmingham the next day, but first visited a place called ‘Rosedale bank’ which Jon recommended we visit since it was so near – to where we were just North of York and so beautiful.  It was indeed; stunning, memorably so.
The stand-out memory on the journey back was Nick having a go at me for directing him down all the A roads when there was a much bigger, straighter road we could go down.  I had to show him that the road map we were using was so old the road wasn’t marked on there yet.  We were both very amused.
I spent the next few completely committed to learning astrology.  What I didn’t know at the time was that Uranus transiting conjunct my Sun already had it planned out that way.  One of my best repositories of information was a place called ‘astro-chat’ which was a creation from Jonathan Cainer’s website.  It was where many talented astrologers of all ages and levels of knowledge congregated and hung out and I learned more from my experiential sharing on that site than I could have ever learned studying alone.  I’m glad to say that I remain in touch with a few people I met there also, including a very close friend who for a while was my partner.
Sadly the next time I got in touch with Jonathan Cainer it was to inform him that Nick had died.  He had collapsed and died of a heart attack next to his camper van, at a festival in France.  Nick had lived a very big life, survived a very major accident when he broke his neck, travelled extensively around India, enjoyed a taste of fame in the 60s and he had two grown up children of whom he was very proud.
I know that Jon also spent a lot of time travelling, visiting festivals, meeting people; sometimes writing his horoscopes whilst travelling by road through India.  He is survived by a large family, including a wife and eight children and I know he will be missed hugely.  He did fulfill many of his ambitions though, of that I am sure.  I am also certain that he knew he would die suddenly.  Any astrologer with Uranus in the 8th House would expect to leave this world quickly and surprisingly.  His final horoscope written for his own sign of Sagittarius talks about us all believing we have more time than we think but that life is finite.  Perhaps he knew it was his time.
Much love Jonathan, thank for everything you taught me and for being such an intrinsic part of my journey.  May there be lots of purple, and sparkly loveliness wherever you are.
If you ever look at the sky and see a huge pyramid; you’ll know that Nick and Jonathan have finally completed their visionary tent!
